Any mention since enrichment centres will be closed from Thurs onwards till end April, who is going to pay for the course fees? The enrichment centres or parents?

Affecting businesses inclu tuition centres, will there be some package to help these businesses so that parents don't need to pay for them

😓 Hard to say.
DH says tuition/enrichment centres are for the privileged so Govt unlikely to use public funds to subsidize parents.

the link provided earlier, just state \"ALL\" tuition centre, apply across the board
Never specifiy, whether big size or small sized tuition centre, affected

those big players tuition centre names that come into our mind instantly, with hundreds of students attending tuition lessons concurrently, are

for Chinese : Wang lao shi

for English : Academia, Indigo

for Maths, English, Science subjects : Mindstretcher, The Learning Lab, etc

for Maths : probably those Maths Olympic training or enrichment centre

since Tuition centre had collected one Term school fees up-front in advance, and this is a sudden National government tightening order announcement, unlikely that
Tuition centre will re-fund parents any $ that were already paid, if parents were to initiate cancellation of lessons from duration, starting this Thurs tuition ban due to virus, until end of 30 April, Total 5 weeks

with so much uncertainty ahead, think Tuition centre going to give us back refund ? No, they won't
In fact, tuition centre begin to worry, what's going to happen next, after 30 April ?
if the virus worsen globally, government to announce, extension of tuition ban further until ... May, July ?

June holiday is Term 2 break, no regular tuition lessons conducted during this June one month holiday.
Instead, will be replaced by those PSLE preparatory workshop. But looks like these workshop also banned, due to virus containment

PSLE Oral start in ... August

Hi, my P3 kid's tuition centre is offering replacement lessons (live) online (at discounted fees), if we don't want to miss classes. Alternatively, there is No cost to parents (that is, no fees will be collected) during this period. But, details are still being worked out... so maybe there'll be minimal fees for materials?, etcetera, we'll be informed tomorrow (thereabouts).

I'd agree with phtthp with regards to online learning, especially when the target student (my kid) is not such a mature learner, so would choose to suspend lessons during this period (if possible).

Increased tough measures!

Those residents arriving back to SG after 11.59pm fr UK, US will hv to stay in hotels & not home to limit spread.

Also, consequences for those Singapore residents who insists on travelling abroad despite advisory against travel will hv to pay for own medical expenses in public hospitals, will not be allowed to claim from MediShield Life or Integrated Shield Plans for Covid-19 treatments.

Returning Singapore residents from UK, US to serve stay-home notices at hotels

Great! With these new measures kicking in, straight away from airport go to dedicated quarantine facilities (like hotels), I feel safer on the whole and it will also reduce cross-infection risks for their family members as well as avoid thorny logistical issues like preparing food/laundry etc.

Should have done this earlier
Feel like the numbers are high and escalating
A lot of overseas citizens have been returning since last week , I m worry a lot already mingle at home with relatives etc

The MOH directive (https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/tighter-measures-to-minimise-further-spread-of-covid-19😞
Tuition and Enrichment Centres

10. All centre-based tuition and enrichment classes will be suspended. This is to reduce the intermingling of students from different schools and enhance the safety of our students.
I'm adhering to this for all my weekly small group classes (max. size of 6 pax) and will bring lessons online for the stated period.

Yeah, I agree online learning cannot completely replace classroom learning so I'm adjusting the fee for online lessons too. In my case, fees are due only at the end of every month based on lessons attended so I'll leave it to the parents to decide whether to suspend lesson for the time period or opt in for online lessons.

I https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=95466&p=1965315&hilit=zoom#p1965309 this time last month, but still, I must say this came earlier than I expected. 😓

Zoom allows for dual way communication so I'm not too concern about students being devoided of the chance to raise questions and clarify doubts. What's important though is to brief students and parents clearly on the relevant procedure and required actions and this could take some reaction time or getting used to.

There's added job on educator's end - uploading and managing online platforms for dissemination of notes prior to lesson and submission of assignments, making the recorded videos of the lessons available for playback viewing, setting aside extra time for Q&A sessions etc. but as the saying goes: \"没有永远的危机,只有永远的机会。\" I guess this is an opportunity to turn 危机into 转机. 😉

Star,
Not yet receive letter. I hardly use. More for my MIL. My hands gets very dry & peels. I usually use the small handy spray sanitizers when I’m out & hv no access to water.

Hey, suddenly rmbr’d Janet, wonder how is she doing. Hv not heard fr her for a while.

I just read a tip that as an additional safety measure... the Koreans use the non-dominant ( i.e. your left hand, if you are right-handed and vice versa) hand for door knobs, transport, bathrooms, etc because it is very difficult for you to touch your face with that hand. In Korea they widely practiced this habit and avoid getting hit by the COVID-19
