I think this year DSA might be impacted because even SYF is postponed. P6 might not be able to participate if it’s nearing PSLE.

this year P6 students are greatly impacted.

For DSA, they need to rely on past years' achievements + coming May Mid-year exam results, if 2020 SYF [Singapore Youth Festival] or Sports games meeting, etc are postponed / cancelled

Actually, using grade 8 by p6 to DSA via music is thing of the past. Nowadays, very rare. Yes ABRSM music theory was postponed.

Mine is a private tr, so no issue for me. Mine uses own hand to play on kids hand to show the touch required at times. Many other methods which I shld not disclose here. Every tr has their own trade secrets.

For kids w no interest or motivation,
prob would be the same even if tr sit right next to child. I believe, any online lesson would need some support from parents at home, for pri sch kids at least. But for lower grade, the focus is to play correctly, timely. Fine tuning is required too but the degree of it is less.

            for piano,

there are toddlers that start learning how to play piano aged around 4 year old or kindergarten age 5 yo onwards, because these parents plan to use music to apply DSA into Secondary schools later on when they reach PSLE year, so they start out very early.

But if your toddler at such a young age is unable to sit still, like to walk here, walk there, or kiddo like to make a lot of noise, chit chat cannot focus, unable to concentrate, do Not signup for online piano, because Not suitable for these toddlers. You know your own child best, esp. if u happen to have twins that made a lot of noise during piano lessons at physical premises, fidgeting here & there, cannot sit still, run here, run there, attention deficit kids / children, causing distraction to others. These kids are too young, to understand the meaning of \"online\"

If a kid cannot sit still, even w tr beside, will still not keep still. How to learn piano for at least 30min?

Which of these centres are still asking parents to deliver & collect hardcopy worksheets to the physical branch?

Which of them are giving parents the option to opt out of e-learning? Any refund?

I really don’t like how there’s a lack of options given to parents. My kid is middle/upper primary still ok. But those with preschool to lower primary level, there are issues such as too much unnecessary screen time, the kids need the parent to help login, type or spell questions, adjust the settings for the video conferencing apps etc etc.

I still have some spare time to set all this up cos I’m part time & WFH. How are those FTWPs with multiple kids coping with having to set up all this extra stuff??

One is my friends is trying to dust off her old outdated laptops to see if they have the correct specifications for her 2 kids to use - one is PSLE kid and likely needs his own dedicated laptop to manage all the new learning. If video conferencing, also each kid/WFH parent needs their own room otherwise can hear each other speaking in the background, sometimes confidential work stuff.

Even 7 years ago grade 8 by P6 for DSA is insufficient. Need to win some competitions (not SYF).

For JC, even before covid-19, all lectures are taped so students who missed the lectures due to sickness, competitions, etc or just want to re-watch the lectures, can watch the recorded lectures. For tutorials, I guess they can use Zoom now?

Case 666. She is a doctor at National Skin Centre and still worked before she was admitted to hospital. If a doctor ignore the advice of staying at home if sick, what example did she set? :slapshead:

I foresee many parents withdrawing after Term 2. This is gonna be a long fight and social distancing is gonna be part of our daily life till year end. Looking at the size of the tuition classrooms I have been to before, I don't know if they can meet the WHO's criteria of safe distancing. They will have to split the classes and that may upset the timetables of many.

Not to mention that some parents might be out of job and can no longer sustain non-essential enrichment/tuition at some small-scale centres. $48 billion is no joke. Am surprised many are still unfazed by the fate of our aviation hub and national aircraft. It's troubling.
