So far, it seems like the 20,000 FWs will continue to stay put inside the gazetted isolated Dorms. Hope the task force can act on the matter fast!
I believe the task force working very hard to setup more sites to spread & hold the overcrowded tobthe seams dormitories. Now we can empathize, whilst these foreign workers help build our roads & bldgs, with residences preferring dormitories are not within local communities, they’ve to subject themselves to cramp living conditions. Whilst they’ve accepted it as their lot, in unusual times like this requiring physical distancing, they’ve really nowhere to go. I’m sure our govt will spread them out given next few critical days to contain spread so that these will not infiltrate into our local h’hold.Estéema\" post_id=\"1970205\" time=\"1586184594\" user_id=\"66413:

Can. That is what it is happening now in US, Italy and Spain.
In SG, most probably form an medical ethics committee by MOH to decide who to save if we do not have enough respirators/ventilators.
Now the Dorm clusters are just like Princess Diamond cruise ship, a disaster waiting to happen. All the FWs in isolation will be cramped inside the gazetted dorm and each of them only has an average of 4sqm living space!
Better to quickly disperse the 20,000 of them to Changi Airport terminal 2 for isolation, just spread them out for actual social distancing. BMT just got postponed, right, so use the barracks to hold these FWs lah. How about old schools, SERS flats waiting to be demolished etc. Just let these FWs stay in these different areas to prevent a repeat of the Princess Diamond disaster.
MOH should quickly advise on the best mode of isolation for these FWs so why they soooo quiet?!
What we shld reflect is our own local students groups, expat communities do constrain themselves & bear this one month out & not mingle unnecessarily to create even more clusters. Condos shld close gyms (unless machines are innopen doace, erhm) & residents shld not social ard BBQ corners & put in 1m separation for seats/benches, etc. Residents (esp students on laptops) shld be not loiter at void decks or community Centres just to avoid family friction which may encourage others gathering at void decks or CCs.
Hope the Expo site has been quickly setup for use this week. Yes, agree army barracks or blocks due for demolition shld be utilized for addition as quarantine or treatment sites for light cases. Question is do we hv enuf nursing support & security supervision for addition sites.
Don’t think the 400-bed isolation facilities at Expo is meant for the FWs. MOH said in ST that it’s for those who are recovering from Covid-19 or with mild symptoms, will move over from hospitals to free up the hospital beds. 400 beds also not enough for the 20,000 FWs to space them out although I heard the project to convert Halls 3 and 4 just put up for tender. By the time they are ready, I think the 14 days crucial period could be over already. Don’t forget we still have few new Dorm clusters popping up.
It is just an isolation facility so there’s no need for so many nurses there but do need someone like police to guard the FWs.
lee_yl,
Ya. I’m concern not enuf to space FW out. So pitiful to hv no where to run to & afraid the next FW is infected or might spread to them. They’re still a human life, doing work that S’poreans will not labor at & each hv families back in their hometown.
Realized our small redot SG still need to convert more space for quarantine & isolation. Looks like might need to extend LOAs of foreign workers if the FW clusters or cases increases. Still need a solution to space then out. I see a lot of undeveloped land & wonder is temporary tents (shelter sun & rain) can be erected as NY did when they ran out of space.
Skeletal onsite medical resources still needed but security definitely must be in place. You don’t know what reaction once these workers fear for life & want to exert themselves for freedom or sth. It is good we see them putting in 2-3 big police cars with police servelliance 24/7 -

I hope there are laws that can be invoked to deter people from holding mini BBQ parties at their condo. I saw on Facebook, this particular shop selling raw satay, BBQ chicken wings will stay open and also provide deliveries during this circuit-breaker period
The concern is, those not working, will have too much time on hand, will start socialising since they have received some form of compensation from the budget. No pain, hence no worry. 😓
Now that Singaporeans have nowhere to go, will all head to supermarkets to kill time?
The NTUC at TPY was very crowded this morning and I saw at least 20 customers (mostly students) crowding around Bubble Tea shop!!
I walked pass 美珍香, staff still roasting Bak kwa,
I am very worried whether our Circuit Breaker will work out as well as hoped.
We are taking things too lightly and need constant reminders to stay home to minimise movements and mingling. -

recently ,my dh has been on later work arrangment & this morn as he did his daily run , he saw exceptional more number of youngster and seniors \"socialising\" in the park today , walking pets n talking etc .... I really hope these people be more responsible n keep safe distance away fr each other... younger couples exercise \"park tor\" in parks since tertiary is having sch holidays etc?

I do not wish to see continue climb in case numbers & extreme measures by G or police or army need to patrol out to control irresponsible people movements... we should learn lesson fr ang mo countries , not obedient enough and community spread becomes wild fire
older aunties use market & supermarket as \"gather\" places - they go marketing together :slapshead: -

The authorities had put them on 14 LOA & food will be packed & delivered to dorms. They’ll hv security & on-site Medical assistance. Today’s news indicated the 14 days may be extended further. Only those who are not infected & are in essential services will be separated & alr moved fr the cluttered dormitories. Those foreign workers in non-essential industries will continue to be paid with govt putting up $100 for each worker to their eyers.
Unless they test every worker, how to make sure they are not infected. The limited space and sharing of toilets really very easy to get infected...
of course, we are not talking about \"snuggle maid girlfrds\" into the dorm, under the watchful eyes of police aroundphtthp\" post_id=\"1970271\" time=\"1586240508\" user_id=\"35251:

No outsiders into dorm compound. They’re watched very closely with police stationed to contro situation. Don’t hv to worry if they can snuggle maid girlfrds. Don’t hv to project our imaginations too far. Just go by factual efforts alr announced when Ministers Iswaran, Zarqy et al conducted visit to these dormitories.
There are new regulations to increase social distancing & workers can’t even visit each other btwn blocks or levels. The only thing they need to do now is spread them out so only one worker in an demarcated or shielded (even if by only a heavy plastic curtain) and I’m hoping barracks or Expo will meet the space required to spread them out.
==========================
But, come every weekend Sunday
are these 20,000 FWs allowed to get out of their dorm
- run own errand like,
buy ingredients to cook their own food inside the dorm, because is cheaper to self-cook
or
remit $ overseas back home for their family members, to put food on their table to eat,
or
- meet their girl friend for a while eg. maids ?
surely these 20,000 FWs are not imprisoned inside their dorm even on Sunday, until to the extent that they
cannot even go out to buy ingredients to cook food at home or cannot go out to packet food to eat or have their own free personal space time ? These are basic necessities of life
If Yes, then there is a loop-hole already, for maids to meet them, who in turn, can pass virus back to their employer household
What is the maids' off-day, once a week, their freedom day to do their own things ?
Sunday, right ?
normally see a lot of maids gathered at Lucky Plaza + other places, on Sunday -
thanks phtthp, some branches closed

Condo may not hv ready by-laws passed to stop ppl fr having BBQs but condo mgt shld be able to extend national call for social distancing. It’s unconscionable tt ppl still want to do BBQ at condos. In fact, they shld stagger use of gym (2 pax at any one-hour timeframe) or complete close use of gym, etc.

More servalliance stepped up in public space. Saw police walking thro MRT to adv ppl to exercise social distancing, mkts, town Centres, etc. I’m glad the national call for Circuit Breaker is followed thro with implementation of public checks.
The real tests will be next few days & if ppl still milling ard, then it’ll take us longer to learn co-operation with CB orders. Once cases increases, we might hv to lock down completely with more repercussions & many S’poreans will then point fingers back at govt for loss of jobs, bz & livelihoods but it is our own willful in-cooperative actions (no matter how few of us) that is at fault. -
I think condo/gym facilities cannot use…not sure for all tho.

Ya. I think condo mgt MUST be resolute enuf to execute social distancing measures. The residence committee/mgt committee (MGST) must put in measures to ensure these are communicated in HDB & Condo environment. Afterall, if those elected to serve their community do not take action, the young, the ‘outsiders’ as in expat community & their helpers will not think for the bigger community interests.
I think condo/gym facilities cannot use..not sure for all tho.
