dunno why bakkwa and bubble tea shops need open for bz..just supermarkets alone can take care coffee/tea drinkers liao.

9 out of 10 people think Bubble Tea shops are non-essential. High on the list to go. Want to drink faster buy, maybe very soon no more Bubble Tea. :xedfingers:

I miss Value Shop etc etc, they sell good quality surgical masks (kind of expensive, though) and (imitation) MagicClean Wiper dry sheets for which my supply is running low, left 1/2 packet.

I buy cheap batteries from value shop.. if not enough then go lt no choice buy a more ex packet to dong during this CB period..

DS is getting used to HBL routine by now. There is a basic general routine, ie. Every morning login to the main platform SLS. Then do whatever online work is assigned to them there. Then do whatever offline work assigned to them thru Parents Gateway app (which I have to print out).

Every day, different things assigned for different subjects, including the miscellaneous subjects FTGP, Art, Music, PE.

Some teachers want Zoom or Google Meet sessions once a week just to have “live” lesson & check everybody’s ok. We get random calls from teachers asking parent & child whether everything ok also.

I think we have gotten used to the never-ending to-do list from school & tutors. But I must say, there is a very big difference in my attention to help my kid with I.T. issues (Eg upload/email a file to whichever teacher) when I am in SAHM mode (on my designated weekdays off) compared to when I am in WFH mode. I think those FT WFH parents must be going crazy, especially if their industry is still going at full speed instead of slowing down during this period.

DS still looking forward to real interaction when school reopens of course.

haha yeah it it the google meet I was quite ganjiong coz it is a new thing to me.. on first Google meet for dd2 I was scrambling and dd1 asked dd2 to use her device but unfortunately got kicked out.. after first use it is ok.

my kids have alotofvideo session with teachers.maybe upp pri , higher levels le. DS is quite long session , but afterHBL-late afternoon, veryfree le -nonconstructive gaming.
dd is quite busy ..... I m busy too, big boss- no life , gives lots of work as well :frustrated: making people stress
work + pandemic stress ! bad bad people 😆
I dont know what dd1 is doing..spending alot of time looking at screen also.. she told ne tomorrow got few Google meet up. Dd1 getting lazier for sure..waking up late, having few breaks in between and watch tv
for this time round, the focus group(s) would be the FW from dorms and pray no cases from maids? during this CB period the peak could more or less be gauged or not?

If I assume majority of the maids’ off days fall on Sundays, from their last off day on 5th April plus another 14days, still no news on domestic helpers outbreak, that means don’t have lor.

As for the FWs, reported in ST, I think aggressive testing has has yet to start, likely they only test on those who look sick and are close contacts of confirmed cases. So I do not think the figures have reached a peak yet. We are likely to see more cases to come.

Going by the trend, it seems that the number of cases daily will exceed 500 soon!!

yeah worrying the number need hold breath probably but I hope we could get to the peak before 4May?
According to DH, CB started on the 7th April, so we should see the peak (+/-) 20th April for community infection. As to whether we will need to extend CB? He thinks so, so that it can kill off the transmission chains to starve the virus by denying it a host. :scratchhead:

As for the FWs, as long as they are well isolated, it will minimize cross-infection to the community. Which is what the government is doing, install medical and isolation facilities in the dorms to serve the FWs away from the general population.

if have to extend CB by another 2 more weeks, so be it.
Since we already started CB, safer to extend than to go back school.
If infection number can fall to single digit, students can go back to school. But not if number remain high

Your DD2 school did not assign much HBL for them to do?

First few days of HBL I let my DS wake up late, and I spaced out his screen time so let him take many many breaks to rest his eyes, slowly so the offline worksheets first...guess what, around 4pm one of the subject teachers Whatsapped me asking is everything ok, why DS haven’t completed his online SLS for her subject yet... :yikes:

Subsequently we decided to “work smart”, do the online SLS work fast fast in the morning, offline work slowly do...bad for the eyes but at least teachers can “tick off” their internal to-do list and “pang gang” earlier also.

^o^ we only save on travelling - if my P3 does not log on SLS by 8am, the form teacher will call! 😛 The secondary school ones have to take attendance (temperature taking...) by 8 as well, via their respective platforms, plus attend live classes most parts of the day (following usual class timetables). HBL doesn't change the given school homework-loads.

COVID spread in community still climbing although majority fr FWs. Likely CB will extend till end May to stem spread & pray no more deaths. HK & Taiwan do not do as much testing as SG. SG also help Test & segregate FW in attempt to control spread.

Now I’m doing like what I did on my flight in Feb - wear masks, gloves & hood. I wear my sunglasses out too to minimize microdroplets but not full-proof even with the wrap ard sunglasses. Just do what I can. Wearing gloves more to ensure I don’t touch unknowingly contaminated surfaces, sanitize my hands before passing grocery to MIL. Reminded her many times after sorting out her groceries into fridge to immediately wash her hands with soap.

HBL a lot more online learning & interactions than written hmwk. I’m thinking it’s really not healthy for young ones to be locked up bored to tears at home. With traveling & recess time saved, mine hv lots of snack breaks, yogurt breaks, chocolate breaks, biscuit breaks :faint:

Some positivity came off it - more bonding time for family mat exercises, cooking & baking time. I let kids dig up all my recipes. We did bread as well, mochi, lemon tarts, mango cheesecakes, beef goulash, risotto & pizza fr scratch. Good way to train their patience when they’ve to wait for dough to raise. If HBL extends, I’m not sure if every family wld welcome it, unless parents can find sth age or interests appropriate to fruitfully engage.
