For those P6 and sec4, jc2 going back to sch in May, they will have to take public transport if parents do not drive them.

do you all stay next to kids during zoom/meet and hbl time?
I have to work, so I didn't sit beside my kids. But tr chase us and a few other parents for missing sls work. Kids got to juggle sls announcements by diff subj trs, hbl timetable, Zoom timetables for diff groups etc. I realised, these are not what kids normally used to, am I asking for too much.
For eg, kid was doing math sls halfway, switch to zoom lesson, forgot to continue where he left off after zoom ended, or read the list of items from 1 subj tr and close it, but never check back at end of day.
The handbook routine switch to HBL needs a lot of adjustment for my kids.

The demands of P3 maths concept vs p5 are not comparable. If my kids are p3 now, I think my kids would have less prob. But the more in depth qns of maths to be taught via zoom, teachers know, they can only only reach a few kids at most at a time.
Hence, HBL may need a bit of tech support for younger kids, but for upp pri kids, learning harder concepts via HBL in a class of 40+, not that straightforward, parents need to eyeball too

yes the p3 one is much simpler..just started zoom/meet last wk for 1 session non daily. just sls so easier for me to chk unfinished work..now good also that they bring forward the Jun hol.. then kids can go back to normal learning.

Our proper zoom lessons only started on 20 Apr. One 1.5hr lesson for 1 subject per day. 1 week only cover a fraction of what normal sch week covers. Not all schools are progressing at the same pace. Our class has over 40 kids too.

That's why zoom is not a substitute, just a back up.
Our Math teacher doesn’t use video conferencing. Too hard to cover a new topic like converting improper fractions to mixed numbers & vice versa via live conferencing.

English live session still ok. Teacher has been using audio recording function in SLS to conduct Spelling, Dictation & Orals.

Science new concept via live session, not very effective. Teacher follows up with voluntary consultation if student still unclear.

I am just very relieved that holidays brought fwd to May. At least now I can be very sure that the school won’t sneakily convert the scrapped SA1 into non-weighted assessments.

Since May mid-year exam had been scraped,
did your school inform parents (and students) for all level, from Primary 1 to JC2, how your school (college) going to apportion the weightage from Term 2 to rest of the remaining year ?
                  ie.
is it carry over the Term 2 weightage, into Term 3 or into Term 4 portion ?

Different schools (college), different weightage apportment assigned, from (Term 1 to Term 4)

How old are your kids? The older they are, the more independent they can be. I used to face that kind of problem when we lived overseas, and I can probably come up with some suggestions.

P5 and Sec 1. Even library is closed. Not on the library e-borrowing system, so been buying books on kindle. But other than reading and some school work (which I hope teacher will assign), unfortunately they have not developed real passion for any hobby. Usual school holidays, we will take leave, bring them outdoor and short trips, now just confined to 4 walls. Workwise with falling oil prices, we are expected to do more with less, expect big organizational changes coming, so wfm is work as usual with same or even more stress.
