On the other hand, it may be better to get it over and done with early! My family are early risers (at least, my husband and I are, and we don't let our girls sleep in that late), so we are very much of the \"get the bad stuff over with early\" school of thought. If I had a last Monday of HBL, I would get my kids to get it over and done with quickly and start the holiday sooner. That's us.

Got called away - wanted to add that when we did homeschool/internet school, we always started at 8.30 am! My kids got used to it, and appreciated that we often were able to call it a day by 4 pm (this was the slower one in sec school; the faster one was usually done by lunch or early afternoon). We would have a mid-morning break and a 2-hr lunch break/leisure reading. I always pointed out that if I allowed them to sleep till 9.30 am and start at 10.30 am, they would be working till dinner time.

Yes I get it. I really do. Nothing personal slmkhoo. I am surrounded by early risers too: my DH, my DS, my boss, and for my whole childhood - my poor mum who had to drag me out of bed every morning.

Early risers like to bounce out of bed with the sun & they lose steam as the sun sets. Then they need to go to bed as their energy exhausts itself.

Night owl me likes to laugh evilly at DH when he has to do some odd shifts at 2am (my favorite time of the day!)…he has the same sleepy unhappy face at 2am that I have at 8am.

When we have no choice, just bite the bullet and do it. When we finally get our holidays, we do what we each prefer. Cheers.
