Yes I get it. I really do. Nothing personal slmkhoo. I am surrounded by early risers too: my DH, my DS, my boss, and for my whole childhood - my poor mum who had to drag me out of bed every morning.
Early risers like to bounce out of bed with the sun & they lose steam as the sun sets. Then they need to go to bed as their energy exhausts itself.
Night owl me likes to laugh evilly at DH when he has to do some odd shifts at 2am (my favorite time of the day!)…he has the same sleepy unhappy face at 2am that I have at 8am.
When we have no choice, just bite the bullet and do it. When we finally get our holidays, we do what we each prefer. Cheers. -

Both kids start class at 8am sharp
not everyday at 8.30am for Primary kids is ok with me. Dd2 getting earlier now after a period of sleeping till 9+am. dd1 starts hers by 8am.
Daily . They got to wake up at 720 am to eat breakfast. As usual , ds is the hardest to pull up . If I dun control , he also a night owl who Like to Sleep past 1 /2. am n wake at 12pm
Dd end at 1pm, ds one is longer with some short or long break , they have proj discussion , end abt near 4pm daily for lessons -
In the first week of HBL, we started at ard 830am. As their zoom timing is at 10am, they started doing sls hw b4 zoom. But I find them stopping sls hw halfway to switch to zoom may interrupt their flow of learning, having to stop video halfway etc. Hence, I stopped insisting to start early. So now they finish breakfast by 930 to get ready for zoom at 10am. Yes, their day end later, not ideal and they complained abt no time of their own.
Their sleeping time seemed to stretch more now they are not going to school. Sleep at ard 1030am and wake up ard 830-9am. From usual 9hrs to 10hrs!
The "get the work out of the way to make time for the fun stuff" doesn’t always turn out well for us… My kids just simply submit sls hw, even it may not be done properly due to inconvenience of tech vs paper, so that they have more time for the more fun stuff eg, create comic story for art… Lol
Hard to strike a balance at home, for households with working parents and no one monitoring kids hbl. If this is in school, following time table, would this be the same? I think a little better. -

Definitely! I only started the homeschool/internet school thing when my kids were upper pr and sec. Even then, I was mostly with them, fitting in minimal freelance work in between. I couldn't have managed if I was working full time, even from home. Which is why, even though my kids are past HBL age, I totally agree with OYK's statement that HBL is OK as a temp measure, but not as a long-term way of schooling in Sg. Not many families have someone free to supervise kids in HBL all day.

Well, I hope everyone makes the most of the 4 weeks, even if stuck at home. I think every kid (and parent) will cheer when school restarts! -

It's OK, I understand. My brother was the 2am type too, and there were many school hols when I felt we hardly saw each other! By the time he dragged himself into the waking world, my day was half over, and I went to bed halfway through his day.

during hbl, kids been sleeping and waking up late like no govt, I see dd2 sleep till 9+, I m ok with it, in fact always ask dd1 not to be so loud as to wake her up…this is the time to pay off whatever sleep debts they have though I myself cant but still better than waking up b4 6am.

I cannot keep up with all the worksheet printing and different website links. I think I need a virtual assistant.
