:slapshead: Poor thing! Thats true... When i was in an average sec, I had a friend from NYPS and he repeated in the sec school for a year due to grades too.

I agree with this. I had some good friends from SNGS Primary who didn’t make the affiliation cut off either.

So...it’s impt to know your own child. Eg my own child is definitely not an academic high scorer (it was pretty obvious since kindergarten). I wouldn’t have thrown him into an academically demanding school, no matter how easy to get in, how popular, how elite, how desperate.

why would you give up a 100% chance in a decent school to try 60% chance at a fancy school (with a risk of going to 2Cs at any leftover schools)?

A 100% chance of getting into PLMGS BUT 6 years of waking up at ungodly hours, 6 years of clocking in some ridiculous distances and that’s even assuming you drive! If you don’t drive, say hello to no-school bus (because no demand in your area) and multiple changes of public transport.

That vs 60% chance for MGS and worst case scenario, choosing another school at 2C (p/s: 2C come before 2Cs)? For someone who is living less than 2km to MGS and > 2km to PLMGS, MGS would be a much more attractive option from a logistic POV than PLMGS.

MGS and SCGS have set their cut-off at 220. Furthermore, all 3 schools don’t have normal stream (or G2, G3 in future). As such, it’s not possible that all of their affiliate primary school kids will make it to the secondary section, even if they didn’t do badly.

You can score lower than 220 even with 3A and 1B. It all depends on the quality of your A and B.

Tscore 220

Under Tscore system,
If a P6 student on average, each subject scored 75 marks, can end up with Tscore 220.


Under new PSLE AL system,

74 marks :
fall into AL 5 range
If each of the 4 subjects score 74, will end up with AL (5 x 4), equal AL 20 points


75 marks :
fall into AL 4 range
If each of the 4 subjects score 75, will end up with AL (4 x 4), equal AL 16 points
