Dunman High School (Junior High)
-
may i check if Dunman High has an O level track? Checked everywhere on MOE and sch website but they are all silent on this. If one fails in IP track, what happens?
Also, trying to understand chances of DSA through leadership or biculturalism, anyone can kindly shed some light?
1. If the child has no competition experience, but was awarded "Best in Chinese" consistently in Primary School since P1 - will the child stand a good chance?
2. The child is a prefect and has been monitor, junior leader, junior prefect since P1, will the child stand a good chance? She is now a normal prefect but not holding any Committee positions. -

They are all silent because officially, NO O-level track marked,
since the expected completion exit point is at A-level only, as DHS is a 6 years through-train A-level programme, by-passing O-level altogether.
However, if one doesn't do well , cannot cope with IP programme by the end of Secondary 2 -
these IP students are identified by their various Sec 2 form teachers, they will exit out (drop-out) of IP, transferred over another class to take GCE O level. After O-level, they can go Polytechnic, or join another A-level Junior college. Alternately, if they are able to meet DHS L1R5 Cut-off-point (after sat O-level), these students can still join back DHS A-level. However, most students who exited out of DHS, would prefer to go to some other A-level Junior Colleges start afresh in a new different school environment, instead. Perhaps they think too many of their ex-classmates recognized them. Yes, for as long as their L1R5 fall within maximum 20 points allowed by MOE regulation, they can still join back an A-level Junior College, if they are interested in pursuing JC path. Yishun-Innova (YIJC) is the last JC, that take in students, both for A-level (Science & Arts) stream, at 20 points L1R5 max.

sometimes, around 20+ IP students will be identified at end of Sec 2, to exit IP, do their O-level. These students can be from DSA, or had entered via PSLE T-score.
Why are these IP students, only identified to move over to O-level @end of Sec 2, if they cannot cope ?
because
preparation for O-level National exam, required 2 tedious, comprehensive years hard work of preparation. -
Just to add on some information, if at the end of Y2, their L1R5 GPA is below 2.4, then the students will have to go through additional lesson during the End of Year holiday and sit for another exam. If they manage to clear the exam, then they will be able to continue in Y3 IP, otherwise, they will go the Y3 ‘O’ level class. Normally there is one class reserved for each cohort for this though the class size is extremely small and this year, I understand everyone manage to clear the bar, so there is no ‘O’ level class for Y3 at all.

GPA 2.4 is C+ or 55 to 59.

Kelly,
Your questions relate to the Senior High Section of DHS. Please post it in the https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=92935. -
Hi, may I enquire regarding student council internship in Sec 2? My girl mentioned her senior gave talk about that, but she’s not too sure. Thank you.

If I remember correctly, I think your girl will have to get the form and get two teachers (form teacher and CCA teacher) to endorse her for the application. After submitting the application, there will be an Interview conducted by the SC teacher to select the candidates.
