if you are looking at past years trend statistics (numbers),
Hi All,
I understand there is no affiliation for HPPS, I would be grateful to hear from parents that has children that have graduated from there and the most common options for Secondary school?
We are currently staying within 1km and looking for our son to attend in 2022.
Thanks
the number of students who scored 259 Tscore and above, able to enter top IP schools (RI, Hwa Chong) via PSLE T-score,
or the number (percentage) of students, who scored 250 & above, therefore qualify to enter IP Secondary schools -
only the Principal / VP of Henry Park primary, can provide such numbers,
because
only they (authority of the school) have access, to these numbers u looking for.
Anything above 250, Yes, HPPS students can still go to IP schools.
A few IP schools, at the low end of 25x Cut-off-point, are (inclusive of )
- SCGS Secondary (IP), around 252
- Catholic High (IP)
- Victoria Secondary (IP)
- Temasek JC (IP)
Any PSLE student(s) who scored below 250, usually end up in O-level (OP) schools.
Total, in Singapore, how many OP schools ?
close to 80 ?
This means that
as long as the pupil's Tscore go below 250, any HPPS P6 student will end up, in any of these OP schools.
Alternately,
can ask those current / past P6 students, who could had been briefed by their school Principal during assembly time, or during Parents-meet-Teachers session, inside the school hall. However, even if they had been briefed, they might not want to share this type of info publicly in an open forum, since it is private & confidential, to Henry Park primary school itself.
Otherwise, outsiders won't know.
Btw,
eventually which Secondary school, your son or daughter go to (or end up in), will depend on
- his (his) own unique PSLE performance for his particular cohort batch,
nothing to do with how other fellow P6 students inside his (her) class are performing, nor with any past years' P6 students inside HPPS, because a lot, will depend on his (her) own effort, hard work, in preparing PSLE.
In short, look at yourself .
Not look to the left, not look to the right, but, look at yourself
In other words, do Not compare
No point comparing
example
if a student is lazy, sloppy, not interested in studying, parents must \"push and push\", time & again, keep reminding pupil constantly, \"hey, have u done your homework ?\", what do you think, is the chances of this student end up, in a good Secondary school ? -
Thanks PHTTHP,
Appreciated, i now have a better understanding. -

Honestly I am still entirely sure what your question is about.
Thanks Swc,
Unfortunately that does not answer the question... I was not asking for a definitive list of all 300 'cohorts' Secondary school placements.
I appreciate that yes there are always going to be varying opinions of secondary school, given that Singaporeans don't like our children to travel too far, this will impact the choices for our children.
Therefore there will be an underlying trend and behavioural pattern of where parents want their children to go for Secondary education, so for the avoidance of doubt:
Is there a high percentile of the graduates that go to the likes of SJI, RI, St Andrews, MS? Or is there is strong preference for ease and locality like ACS and Fairfield Methodist?
There is no right or wrong answer, just trying to gauge the general consensus...
Thanks in advance
But for whatever it is worth, every year, around 25% to 1/3 of the school population scored 250 and above. And about 10% of total population score well enough for them to qualify for the top few IP schools. Take these figure with a pinch of salt as they are just based on the last 3 to 4 years and even within these 3 to 4 years, figures do fluctuate. However, as to where these kids finally select to go to depend on so many factors so it is impossible for anyone to really say what schools are more popular with students from Henry Park.
Hope this helps. -

Jacey should note that HPPS is a GEP school. Hence, numbers may skewed towards the top school. Also, a number of GEP students could be “transferred” from other schools. Hence, “locality” factors may not be an issue or may be different. -
Thanks Floppy and Swc,
As i mentioned, there is no right or wrong answer and yes every child is different and not one school is perfect for all children, this just gives me a better understanding of the system and the options open to us with regards to Secondary Schools.
I often hear HPPS is a good school just wanted to crystallise the options for Secondary School as there is no affiliation.
Have a great weekend and once again thanks for your input. -
I believe zoe tay's son also went to Henry Park, her husband is alumni.. Wow 270 sbove! :rahrah: :rahrah:
Thats why sometimes these impressive pri schools are better than affiliated full schools, they are able to produce such impressive scores and have even better options in secondary!

somewhere along the way,
Zoe Tay had transferred her son out from Henry Park primary, into Nanyang primary.
also,
it is all over the news that since 2017, Zoe Tay's children had attended the Learning lab.
In fact, Zoe Tay is a passionate supporter of \"The Learning Lab\"
question is,
how much of her son's 270 come from receiving tuition from the Learning lab, and
how much of her son's learning is attributed to school teachers' teaching at Henry Park primary,
this part, can someone please explain, how to quantify, huh ?

also, dont forget that
Thanks PHTTHP,
Appreciated, i now have a better understanding.
inside Henry Park primary P6 level, there are Total 9 P6 classes
source of reference
https://henryparkpri.moe.edu.sg/about-us/staff/2020-teachers
out of these Total 9 classes,
only one is a GEP class
The balance of 8 classes, are Mainstream
1 Mainstream class : Total around 40 students
Hence, total 8 Mainstream classes 8 x 40, equal 320 P6 students
in contrast, that single GEP class, only around 30 students, or even less
assuming 30 students inside GEP class,
Total # P6 students, equal 320 plus 30, equal 350 P6 students
if you look at Henry Park overall P6 students' PSLE results,
because only 1 GEP class,
vs 8 Mainstream classes, so many
overall, performed within \" average \" standard
compared to past years, when Henry park had more than 1 GEP classes back then, in those days, they did better -

Wow i didnt know that. all i remembered was she tried to do PV and didnt go ahead with NYPS, surprised she changed to NY after getting into HPPS as i think HPPS is a very good school too. Any idea where her kids end up choosing for secondary school? like Hwa Chong, RI?

The Learning Lab is a tuition center? Is she sponsored? Or she giving reviews cos she really got good results from it? Never heard of it until you mentioned it here today. -
Hi!
Wondering if anyone here applied for PV and got it? Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what HPPS looks at in choosing PVs since they usually don’t accept many?
Also does the distance (within 1km/2km or more) affect the chances of being accepted to do PV?
Thanks!
