I went to collect from my CC today. This newer kids size mask is much more breathable & comfortable. Ear loop length fits my kid well. Will probably pack for him to use in school.

My gals are rather petite and the previously issued adult masks were too big. Anyone knows if these teenagers can have the option of having kids sized ones?

You can try asking the staff, see if they can exercise some leeway. But the ear loop length is “just nice” for my petite 10 year old. I doubt they would be comfortable length for your girls, unless u supplement with those extenders/ear preservers that go behind the head.

I read on ST that there was a Covid-19 virus carrier shopped at Jurong Point NTUC for 1.5hr.

So I am curious, what if the same thing were to happen to us when we happened to be there at the same place same time? :scratchhead:

Since GovTech has our contact numbers, will GovTech call each of us to inform us, OR we have to read ST ourselves to find out (then might as well don’t bother to register when we enter). I do not think that for such cases the persons need to be on SHN, just monitor own health and can continue to go out right?

i am curious too .... i remembered dh kept asking the safeentry check in app when it first launched whether someone will call the visitors if something happen - :scratchhead:
Do they have so many manpower to check n inform all visitors during that period of visit of the infected person?

if we need to see from news - then i think it is going to be easily miss out by a lot of people
nowadays so many news flying around, tv, wats app, social media fb, inst , twitter etc people eyes n mind are over loaded , low chance to response - unless the venue has become a well known cluster - that means community spread may be sizeable by then

Received Principal’s Term 3 briefing letter from son’s school. From the way the wording was phrased, the mask is to be worn as the primary protection against the spread, whereas face shields are supposed to be a less-preferred alternative only, for example if kid has eczema or skin allergy cannot wear the mask for too long.


So those parents who let their kids wear face shield only, I’m sure they can infer it doesn’t provide adequate protection.

Ya, am curious too. If GovTech collects our data yet we need to read the newspapers ourselves, I find the whole process redundant. Maybe like you say, not enough manpower to call.

Plus if we happen to spend 1.5hrs with the virus carrier and nothing happens to us (that is, we still can go out shopping), then we log in log out for what huh?

Actually go BreadTalk spend less than 5mins also must log in/out meh, very mafan. 99.9% of the customers won’t stay more than 5mins inside a bread shop.

I would rather GovTech inform those suspected cases through calls than publish the confirmed case’s movements on ST. Later whole world knows where the covid patient has been, like went to Geyland to eat chicken... rice... no privacy leh.

Thanks! I think for kindergarten / nursery kids, it is not a bad idea. Masks not suitable for toddlers and young kids as they tend to touch their faces with dirty hands .

But for those students who need to take MRT home, better put on reusable/surgical mask.

I think our Govt must make it clear that unless one has medical conditions like skin allergy, else the shield alone does not provide adequate protection.

For those who are still sourcing for kids masks in prep for Term 3...I let P4 kiddo try out several types at home during past few days. His verdict?

cloth mask - too thick & suffocating

disposable mask - more breathable but traps sweat. Kid size: slightly too small, whereas adult size: ear loops fit but the rectangle piece is too large.

“Gill” brand mask - much more comfortable. Easier to breathe since no parts are pressing on the nostrils at all. The silicone rubber seal is definitely “tighter” than the disposable masks which alway had air gaps at the side/bottom. Straps are fully adjustable to fit any size head, adult or child.

I believe the easier to breathe, the lower the barrier.
Instead of trying out diff masks, better to 'practise' with what is easily available, or what you have on hand.
Put one on and use in for hours at home. Next, go for a few km of brisk walking (for heavier breathing and higher humidity accumulated on the mask).
Don't look for the easy way out.
