Thanks for sharing FAQ. very handy
In case anyone is considering the “withdrawal method” this year, the online registration system allows you to withdraw online, don’t need to email the school.
The only “difficult” thing is your spouse must subsequently login with their SingPass within the whatever time limit, in order to authorize the withdrawal.
This is similar to the same process for submitting the registration, so you would both already be familiar with this spouse double login thingy.
I suggest people go look at MOE’s FAQ website to familiarize themselves with this year’s online registration system.
In particular, if your NRIC address had been changed after a certain cut off date (go see FAQ), the SingPass system will not have this latest address in its database. U will need to submit your registration via a special online form that will be made available. Don’t blur blur use the wrong method as the distance category could be totally different from what u want.
And the FAQ provides the usual links to the pages that will be updated at the end of the day + at the end of the entire phase (which schools will be balloting). I see no indication at all that there will be any “live” data stream or even any (hourly) updates before the close of the day.
So be prepared that you can’t know the latest number in order to make a last-minute decision.[/quote]
How do I know that my online registration on the Primary One Internet System (P1-IS) has been withdrawn successfully?
Answer:
To complete withdrawal online, both parents are required to login to Primary One Internet System (P1-IS) to submit the withdrawal. -
During phase2C registration - I assume there is no way to check the live status
1.) how many applicants
2.) breakdowns into SC/PR
3.) breakdowns into within 1km/ 1-2km and outside 2km
for parents to judge the chances of balloting? -
That’s what I assume too. Very likely we won’t know until the actual registration phases start. We’ll be counting on the phase 2A1 parents to tell us here on KSP, whether they can see any “live” counter inside the registration website/form.

can elaborate more?
Since registration is via MOE online portal. Shouldn't only MOE staff know live status? -

Thanks zac's mum and nitrodrops for clarifying. I had referred to the \"Registration Matters\" and missed the \"P1-IS\" section of the FAQ. Edited my earlier posts.

In the past, applicants are reliant on school admin’s goodwill to tell them the breakdown. -

U mean u want to call up MOE hotline to ask them the live statistics? I suppose that’s one way.

Btw, in the past, parents who couldn’t go down physically would call the individual schools to beg for the number of applicants & distance breakdown. But I think this year even the school staff would not know. Since there’s no school staff on duty for walk-in registrations any more. The entire registration process will be managed by MOE thru their centralized portal.
What I was referring to, was information visible by the portal users themselves. That’s what I meant by 2A1 parents would be the first to know (upon login) whether there’s any “live” counter within the form. People like me who aren’t registering this year, I doubt I can suka suka login just to kaypoh. -
I took a look at the FAQ it seems that only 2C is using P1-IS the rest is using online form.

I wonder how many SCs have in the past, were allocated spots by the government in schools not of their choice, after their kids failed at the phase 2C stage.
i wonder how they feel? were their kids given places far away from their home? were they happy there? -

Firstly, after Phase 2C, there’s still another lifeline for SC at Phase 2CS. You will need to be balloted out of both phases before the gahment steps in. Furthermore, IIRC, you were previously allowed to approach schools with vacancies in between Phase 2CS and Phase 3 to register if you still don’t have a school at end Phase 2CS. Hence, the number of affected SC, i.e. allocated to any school, is actually quite small.

That said, I do know of several people who were allocated / found schools after failing both Phase 2C and 2CS. For some, it was due to ignorance (just apply lor, dunno must ballot) or limited options (next to popular school, alternative school nearby is also a school that needs to ballot in Phase 2CS). Others, it’s due to attitude (must go for branded and next-best branded school). Most, at the end of the day, came to accept what were given (most were usually allocated / found the nearest school with vacancies). Some liked their schools (eventually) while others hated it - that’s just like everyone else.
