St Margaret's Primary

I feel like both St Margaret and Paya Lebar Methodist Girls are quite similar in terms of reputation and academics. They are both above average, and also have affiliated secondary schools, religious, holistic, same gender… Just different location. Both are also not hard-hard to get / ballot in. May I know from you parents, what are the main differences between both schools? And why would you choose one over another? Thanks for insight!

If you are looking at long term prospects for PLMGS, do note that PLMGS Sec is affiliated to Anglo-Chinese JC (ACJC) to enjoy 2 discounted points.

For primary 1 registration, it is more challenging to register the girls successfully in PLMGS for Phase 2C as compared to St Margaret for Phase 2C. Phase 2Cs will still have vacancies at St Margaret Pri. -

Simple reason: 1) No ballot required and pretty close to home 2) wide range of Cca activities to choose. Ideally I prefer slightly stronger academic focus school, but SMPS is good enough with Strong character development. I do not want to stress myself out and not keen to send her to expensive TLL just to keep up in a competitive environment.
Thats good to know, seems like very holistic! Can you share why you decided this is a right choice of school for your girl?pipiyap\" post_id=\"1975472\" time=\"1589288426\" user_id=\"54922:
Smps are more relaxed and parents are pretty chill, only a small handful are kancheong. Parents profile are mixed bag, slightly skew towards private condo than hdb due to location. Most parents choose SMPS because they prefer a more ‘balanced’ school, it is not as competitive as SAP or elite school along Bukit Timah. The school does not glorify on academic achievement or competition. Academic standard wise I think it is slightly above average - English standard should be pretty high and most girls read pretty well for their age but Chinese standard is lower. Maths standard are not high through observation on Maths Olympiad results and schoolwork. The school focuses a lot on character development and my girl enjoys going to school.

hi, anyone know if SMPS will be at temp location for how many yrs? I am considering to enrol my girl in, at 2C, seems balloting is not necessary at 2C, looking at history.

To add, do anyone enrol their girls in the student care services within SMPS, isit good? I’m new to student care, and unsure what activities the girls do inside.

St Margaret's Primary will go back to its permanent site in January 2023 instead of January 2022 -

Apply to SMPS if you really like the school and willing to travel there. Its very risky to look at just the balloting trend. Imagine if everybody thinks the same, the school will be very well over-subscribed suddenly. I also observed that each time MOE allocates more seats to a school, the number of additional applicants that it attracted is more thn the number of increased places. Especially the 2014 cohort is as big as the dragon cohort.

Address to determine location priority is based on ORIGINAL location. Hence, OneMap is correct.
