Better is a subjective term. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

Are you considering the schools for P2C? Which is nearer? Which is more convenient?

This year is really a game changer. Previously those hot schools, during registration, they have the school staff around and is able to reject parents who are no longer eligible due to distance once the school is over subscribed.

For this year without this information, anyone can just go online and register and likely they don’t even know if the school is over subscribed, and whether there is balloting or not thus wasting their 2B, 2C, 2CS chance.

yes, this is the potential risk because scaly, one SC kid whose parent stay beyond 2 km submitted registration, then as more and more other parents come in to register under less than 1 km, or beyond (1 to 2 km), until this \"> 2km\" get forced out of the chance to ballot, also not aware what's going on, still thinking that she got chance to ballot

              unless

MOE made the registration info online real-time, like stock-market, and must break-down by (distance range + citizenship SC or PR), not put one big lump sum figure up there, without any breakdown by distance, people also will be lost

last year, when some parents called up asked admin for distance break-down, some schools' admin don't bother to reply

Which is back to the old days, which is good. Then everyone is equal. Else those who are more informed, will be a step ahead of those who are not. When everyone is equal, they will use their chance more carefully. And not enrol here, watch, withdraw, enrol there, etc.

Like PSLE, when AL comes, it will be merit and choice, no longer just merit. Which is like last time, merit and choice. Just that last time, the selection was made before psle results, and now it is after psle results. When it was before psle results, everyone was more prudent with their choices, unlike now, some are choosing 6 choices within a narrow range of cop and then complain when they get none of the 6.

previous years, as long as you are in the registration halls by the cut off time, u are allowed to register. (i.e. take your time to fill up the form, submit documents etc).

For this year, especially for those parents who intend to do the last min withdrawal and then re-register to another school, i supposed you have to click on the submit/confirm button with all the documents uploaded as well as forms uploaded by the cut off time. I think there may not be a lot of reaction time and then your chance is wasted.

Those schools that ballot < 1km will still ballot under 1km. Nothing changes. The certainty will be with those schools that sometimes ballot at a certain distance but sometimes don’t. I actually think it may drive up enrollment to some of the less popular schools because people would be less gung-ho with their selection.

As for secondary schools selection, I’m still struggling to understand why year after year, there will be people who pick choices from a very narrow band, and then complain bitterly when they get none of them.

some more, in that last one hour, from
3.30 pm to 4.30 pm closing time

The internet P1 registration online submission traffic is very heavy, as everyone rush to submit by 4.30 pm

If network breakdown around that time,
                      ...

Better to go back to the time when they choose before they know their psle results. That will make them sit down and think hard.
