In that case, pick a school with no affiliation. By choosing a school with no affiliation, you will be ‘affiliated’ to about 150 schools in Singapore.
If I put my kids in a school where affiliation COP > 230, I will probably be more stressed up pushing my child to study extremely hard every day to get at least 230. Otherwise it is like end of the world in a way because child can’t even get into the affiliated Sec school. It can be quite depressing.
It is a mindset thingy. -
Yes, one point less, also cannot come back to their Affliated Secondary school.
Last year, on that very day of 2019 Psle results released (announced), some St Nick P6 students cried because they scored 229, merely one point less seems insignificant, one point only, not talking about 2 or 3 points away, also cannot come to St Nick Secondary. However, the repurcussion (consequences) of this merely "1 point less" is so critical, important , that it actually prevented students from coming back to study in their beloved, Secondary school. In the end, MOE posted them to some other Secondary schools, based on their list of 6 choices submitted -
Anyway this year will be the last year T score is used. We dont know next year what points and if there is any affiliation.
This T score will be history. -

For 229, just missed by 1 point, I will appeal but not sure of the success rate.

Indeed it is. You are right, affiliated to some 150 schools just that the names of those affiliated schools sound more atas.

My friend’s daughter scored 19x, could not make it back to 200 express affiliation COP, so she went to another school to do express.

I guess this miss-by-one-or-two-points thing happen everywhere. Appeal doesnt work cos you must meet cop before your appeal be considered. -

appeal also no use,

because school authority will tell the appealing student that,
all students need to follow MOE policy compliance : admission into Secondary schools, is based upon meeting the school's Cut-off point. This news is not something new, been reported all over newspapers, time and again.
because you cannot have this situation arise
2 students (X and Y), appealed to St Nick, both also 229
cannot have one student appeal successful, got back in
while the other student appealed, failed to go back
chaos arise !
Then this MOE policy that \"everyone must meet Cut-off-point\", becomes invalid, because one student appealed, can get back in mah, violated the MOE policy set -

this phrase here, \"if there is any affliation ...\", is a hint already

unexpected things sometimes happen, just like this year, nobody expected covid-19, did you ?
On the eve of 2020 Chinese New year, every household happily celebrating CNY family reunion dinner, eating \"lou hei\" / popular \"huo-guo\". Then, the bomb dropped next morning when people about to go house visiting, carrying mandarin oranges to \"bai nian\". China announced lockdown, \"Wuhan\" virus pandemic, throw the whole world into chaos, nightmare -

so far, a few Secondary schools affliated Tscore, are high
- Catholic High (240, affliated Tscore)
- SJI (238)
- ACS (235)
- St Nick (230)
- MGS and SCGS (220)
- CHIJ Toa Payoh Sec & others (200)
Maris Stella affliated Tscore, ?
===================
between SJI and ACS, choose which school safer (better) ?
SJI Secondary :
only offer Express stream (O-level).
No Normal stream, available
ACS :
got Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) stream, besides Express stream (O-level)
Thanks for posting out in order of the scores. Didnt know Catholic High has such high affiliated scores! You would think that deter people from applying but its so popular! Do you think as years go by, the scores are just going to shoot up? (Regardless Tscore or L1R5).. Hard to imagine affiliated scores lowering yea? Fairfield, PLMGS and St Marg has low affiliated scores too, but above average non affiliated scores! Anymore to add to the list? :please: -
Here’s the link to the latest affiliated COP list (there’s an entire thread on it):
