Son another 7 months to ORD., Jan 2021. Now already in ord mood. This morning received Disruption shortlisted notice. Mindef most likely will give Disruption Notice today and to be decided/accepted by today.

Should accept the disruption? Any very good advices ? URGENT
For your case is very straightforward. Accept the disruption since the army is giving him an early ORD. Unlike those who disrupted with remaining 1 years plus. They have to continue to serve the remaining months of year after graduating. Your son might not need to serve the remaining 7 months as it might be considered unproductive and I think the army is considering this as an early ORD disruption.

Finish the service first? Cos nephew did that few years back. He said it is so disruptive. He should have completed the service. Did not ask further his reason cos we meet up on CNY and was very busy.

Disruption under medicine disruption scheme. Since balance 7 months, need to add another about 6 months to serve. Total another 13 months at least to serve after finished study.

Any good advice ? No early ORD

Those who have less than 12 months of service to ORD would have to do a voluntary extension to their service. The current COVID-19 situation is going to cause quite a fair bit of disruption to the conduct of the lessons and practical sessions especially for this year. So all these factors should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to opt for disruption.

If need to 'top up' 6 months to meet minimum 12 months when resume serving, then not worth it. This is practical consideration. Especially if there is plan to do something after ORD while waiting for med school to start. If no plan and committed and passionate about serving NS, then can consider disrupt. Personal view only.

I will do the same. Disruption in this case is extra 6 months NS. More relevantly this year with the pandemic disruption many are already taking a gap year so it seems like serving out the remaining 7 months makes great sense. Starting med school next year will mean no restrictions on lectures and other activities like white coat ceremony and CCA etc.

For your son’s case the army is not giving him an early dismissal of ORD. Instead they has extended another 6 mths on top of his remaining 7 mths. He is going back army to serve as a medical officer after graduation to complete his national service. Even though he has left with 7 mths to ORD, the time is not long enough for him to serve as an MO for the army. Thus a 6 mths was added under army's contractual terms and discretion for the disruption.

I don't think this disruption terms are applicable to those who has left with more than 12 months to serve after graduating. In this case it is personal and it is up to you to choose. Go back army to serve to get a higher rank of a Captain if he is not already an Officer. Also get the chance to practice and experience how an army field hospital and clinical centre environment are being managed. They are 1st class in my opinions. If not just don't accept the disruption and finished up the 7 mths left and start your study next year.

                        Hopefully no negative effect.
Or any one can give advice ?
