Hi, may I know what are the subject combinations available for Y3-4? I understand most choose triple science. Is there any humanities subject that is compulsory? Thank you.
Most boys choose Triple Science with Geography or History. Some choose Triple Science with Literature.

There are some who choose Double Science + Double Humanities. The Double Humanities cannot be History + Geography. Either Literature + Geography or Literature + History.

Do look out for school briefing (Y2 parents) for any latest changes.

Hi, then how about social studies/philosophy? Is it considered a humanities subject also? Thank you.

However, under the GPA computation of Core 5 + 1, Social Studies cannot be used as the Core Humanities (I believe this is a new change for this cohort).

For 2020 Year 3 Cohort, Combined Humanities (Social Studies/Philosophy) is compulsory. This is a new change different from earlier cohorts. I am not sure how this subject is considered under the GPA computation.

There has been quite a bit of changes for recent cohorts so do look out for school briefing (Y2 parents).

            Hi Parents,
Can anyone advise me on RA? What’s the purpose of it and is it very taxing? Do boys taking RA take the same exam as the rest of the cohort or is a separate paper? How many RA subjects can one take? My boy has an average GPA of 3.9.

Students with exceptional talent who excel beyond the enrichment provided in specific subjects (that is, English Literature, Geography, History, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics) are offered an advanced
curriculum in the Raffles Academy (RA), a talent development programme for Year 3 and Year 4
            students.

Many boys taking RA are doing well. It is important that they are self-motivated with a strong aptitude and passion for the RA subject.

Some papers are common (ie. same as RP) while some are RA papers.

            At most 2 RA subjects.

            Tqvm, coast!

                Good morning,

My boy started year 1 in April so I missed all orientations. Is there any WhatsApp group for parents? What about parent suooort group?
                Thank you.[/quote]
Do make sure you have access to both Stamford and Parents Gateway so that you do not miss out on any important news and events.

WhatsApp groups for Y1 parents (class level) are usually created at the beginning of the year where parents are invited to meet the form teacher(s). Perhaps your boy can ask some of his classmates to check with their parents whether they are part of a class WhatsApp group so that they can add you in. Or seek the help of CEC (class monitors).

                All the best.

Hi all I would like to ask if the sports CCA take in students who are doing the sport recreationally or they only take those who have trained competitively?

Normally, the ones Sports CCAs pick are the students who have trained competitively, but it also depends on how you do during the trials.
