Affiliated Schools and their COPs

Assuming no change in the performance of the cohort, then it will be purely based on an in increase in interest by slightly high performers to stay in the family.


But I would rather think it is due to better performance and assume no change in the school attractiveness.

So this year, more seats were released to the non-affiliated applicants? Then by right, the COP for non-affiliates should go down right as more will be able to join the school? But the COP for non-affiliates went up instead.

Maybe because before the 20% thing, fewer non-affiliates chose the school thinking that they may not get in since most places will be taken up so they dont waste the 6 choices, or thinking that they dont want to be in the same school with students coming in at lower scores.

Then when there is the 20% thing, non-affiliates felt they might have a better chance of getting in, so more chose it.

Could it be like this?

i think likely , with a 20% ringfenced seats for non affi , more nearby students will try St Pat thus in the end demand more than supply for 2019 batch -> thus push up aggre from 229 ( 2018) to 233 (2019)

As for plmgs cases, all the while the non affi has very low chances , even with a 20% ringfenced for non-affi girls, some may not want to take chance in 2019 , in a way demand drop , T score also drop from high 240s to 237
i \"heard\" plmgs manage to increase new sec 1 cohort intake for 2019 batch - thus at the same time will or may increase the 20% physical vacancies for non affi girls since total enrolment increase (??) - which is good news for 2019 girls who gave it a try

Thank you very much, for letting us know (be aware) that PLMGS had increased by open one more extra 2020 Sec 1 class, for 2007-born cohort girls, that had sat for 2019 PSLE, last year.

That's how PLMGS Secondary school management

1)
are able to let more affliated P6 girls come back to study at their Secondary school. And, at the same time

2)
concurrently,
still able to let other external \"outside\" keen students (Non-affliated), join PLMGS Secondary,

because after all,

PLMGS Secondary (O-level), is affliated to Anglo-Chinese Junior College.

MOE will release the indicative AL COPs in “first half of 2021”.

So I assume it will show the both the affiliated & non-affiliated COPs. Not sure if it will be a straight, direct “translation” from T score to AL score, or will they take the chance to announce any changes to the entire affiliation bonus system.

\"MOE said that secondary schools affiliated to primary schools will still have two sets of cut-off points next year to cater to affiliated and non-affiliated pupils. 

It said that there will also be no change in how the affiliation priority works, with pupils still required to meet the minimum requirements of the secondary school and pick them as their first choice.\"

It is so brief and skimpy, i'm not sure whether to feel relieved or not.

Affliation will still exists, probably either 1 or 2 points at most. By end of June (2021), we will all know

I think you should be “somewhat” relieved, if your intention is to stick to the family. The AMR is NOT a bonus point scheme - it’s “pre-informed” and known rather than “post-result” which may move with the COP (of whatever fanciful name MOE is going to come up with). At least you have a fixed target to aim for (assuming you will also clear the 80% threshold).

It means ACS can continue to offer maybe AMR score of AL12 to ACSI, and AL24 to ACSBR. No different from before.
