Yes we are in River Valley. What is SMPS? CHIJ i think will not fit because we are Jewish as a religion and i think my girl will feel strange to sing religious song. I understand that even if you do not have to pray, naturally everyone does. Is that correct? Thanks for your reply

It is a school like any other but the church is involved at times in activities that includes all students from all backgrounds and religions. It is a common misunderstanding that mission schools exclude or make students who aren’t from the same faith feel out of place. They can opt out as schools in Singapore generally are made up of students with diverse faiths and background. Both are girls schools, SMPS stands for St Margaret’s Primary - Anglican girls school and the only one left in the city area. You can have your doubts clarified by ringing the schools. This forum is not the definitive guide.

Hi everyone my daughter is PR born in 2014 and we have the following options for 2020 Jan starts (and we do not have a car):
1)River Valley: <1Km but no chance for PR (walking distance)
2) Zhangde 1-2km: last year few chances for PR but not sure this year (7min by taxi or 20 muin by 1 bus +400 m walk)
3) Alexandra 1-2km: I understand not many chances --> am I correct here
4) Cantonment 1-2km (8 min by taxi/28 min by bus + 700m long walk)
I am looking for an holistic school that looks also at the character development and not just academic results. I could see last year Cantonment I like the vibe + they start a bit later but their classes in P1 can be up to 40 kiddos. What do you think about Zhangde and Alexandra? How do you suggest me to approach it?

Hi you can also consider Stamford Primary School, you may have a direct bus 32 there, the trip only takes 8 stops. This is purely based on convenient logistics (and ease of getting a place there). I don’t have any reviews of the school though.

If you are looking for non-missionary schools, Cantonment and Stamford would be your best bet. As PR, your priority isn't to pick a popular school (code word for \"top\" school) in Phase 2C but to avoid balloting AT ALL COST. If a school only ballots for PR, you should also avoid that.

For KCPPS, 1-2km under 2B look quite safe, i am unsure if they have PV route. The most competitive year in 2B was in 2018 (so far) - balloting needed for >2km folks.

SC eldest child in sg50, was old girl in Ai Tong Sch. Did not manage to join the alumni missed the cut off date. (Any way to appeal) What are the chances to get into under 2A2? Do I need to move to <1km to have higher chance? Or what other choices do i have if i am unsuccessful under 2C if i shift. Does marymount convent require balloting beyond 2km for Sc. Currently staying in sengkang can consider shifting as i have 4 kids. Appreciate kind advice from the experts here. Still confused with the systems.

No way of appealing, unfortunately. You can only go under 2A2 now. I’m assuming you are only looking at next year’s intake because I don’t think you can make a move in time this year.

SC < 1km for 2A2 is probably a guaranteed. However, that would also depends on how many former students are willing to pay up and join the alumni association. You should have a better idea after this year’s registration. If it ballots or is fairly close to balloting for Phase 2A2 this year, it’s likely to be the same next year and you may want to consider shifting.

If you shift < 1km but is unsuccessful for both Phase 2A2 and 2C, the two options are MCS or Guangyang Primary School. MCS is a girls school. Considering that you have 3 more children that will be going to school in future, you may want to sign up for the alumni so that they can have the option of enrolling for ATS under Phase 2A1.
