Hi, may I know if SCGS have dual track? I prefer my child to sit for O levels and have the option to choose between JC or Poly later. Thanks

Thank you. My girl would want to apply for all girls school (offering O levels) and SCGS is closest to home with one straight bus.

With no open house this year due to covid19, it will be hard to learn more on the school. Need to read up from page one of this thread.
Any idea how many malays (roughly)? Less than 5 I guess? -

Hi, time passes so quickly. The EOY exams is starting real soon. My gal is starting to feel stress preparing for exams. I didn’t know how to help her because she is my first born and I didn’t have friends with kids in SCGS IP track. So I am hoping to get some help from this forum.
My girl had gotten an average overall score of 78% for her CA1. But I Guess that’s because it was still the honeymoon transition period from Primary School and as such, the test papers were relatively easy.
I have seen my girl doing her homework conscientiously and revising for her tests. Nonetheless, for CA3, her grades dropped. I did an estimated calculation of her average score and I think it should range from 67% to about 72%. I am not sure but does this means she isn’t coping well? Or she isn’t revising effectively? I don’t know the average score for her class but I heard that there are girls failing a few subjects.
In subjects like History and Geography, how do I help her in preparing for open-ended questions? I can’t remember the terms used. For History, I think it’s SBQ and SEQ.
If someone with experience can share with me on how to help my child prepare for End of Year exams, I would really appreciate that. She tried requesting for past year papers from the seniors but didn’t managed to get any. And she told me she couldn’t find them in the library either.
I am feeling anxious and a bit stress that I couldn’t be of much help at the moment… -

Past years SCGS exam papers, for both (IP and O-level) track,
She tried requesting for past year papers from the seniors but didn’t managed to get any. And she told me she couldn’t find them in the library either.
are not found inside the school library
Reason ?
because
school (Principal and Head-of-Department) will not allow them to be released, nor circulated freely inside the school library intellectual property for photo-stating,
because
these SCGS past year exam papers can be used to administer entrance admission tests to,
for Example
1) returning Singaporean students coming back from overseas, going to sit for Sec 1 or Sec 2 entrance Admission tests
Or
2) other external, outside students, from other Secondary schools in Singapore who, at the end of their Sec 1 or Sec 2 educational journey (study), attempt to seek Transfer, into either Sec 3 SCGS (IP or O-level) track.
If join IP successfully via Transfer, they will study in Eunoia Junior College, come Year 5

for entrance Admission Procedure subject tests

For your daughter who is currently a Lower Secondary SCGS student,
closer towards exam time, which is now, since EYA (end-of-year Assessment) is coming very soon, her class subject Teachers will issue mock practice papers to the whole class, for them to practise, get familiarized with the exam format, structure. These mock practice papers, could be one of the past year papers. If need be, your daughter can ask her class subject Teachers, which past year paper was that, if let's say, the front page cover indicating the precise, exact past year, was gone or have been removed
Alternatively, can buy lower Secondary Assessment books related to IP, from Popular bookstore, to practise at home.
E.g.
For Humanities (History / Geography),
publishers (author) like GLM or Wisemann, are good -
:thankyou: Appreciate your time on this.
