Coming from Botanic Gardens mrt(Downtown line), is Tan Kah Kee MRT station the nearest to go to NJC side gate ? Still need to take bus ? How many stops away to cross the overhead bridge to the side gate ?
-
Both Sixth Avenue and Tan Kah Kee almost the same distance. Both need to take bus. Both 2 bus stops away. For Sixth Ave, cross bridge first then take bus. For Tan Kah Kee, take bus first then cross bridge.

Dear Parents,
I am planning to apply DSA for my DS in 2020. He is good in violin (completed Grade 4 ABRSM). Do they have DSA for Violin? In the website, it is mentioned "Music". His CCA is music related. What is the probability of getting shortlisted for audition? -
in view of covid-19,
National Junior College is monitoring the situation closely, reviewing the plan for DSA 2020
https://nationaljc.moe.edu.sg/admissions/jc-dsa/ -
addressed To
Principal / VPs / staff in charge of DSA,
not sure if this year 2020 NJC DSA going to be on, or off
However, in the event if still on,
please think through very carefully, step by step meticulously, how NJC intend to conduct DSA test, in view of deadly covid highly infectious virus
number of people infected, and death, by country
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
1426 new covid cases
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid-19-new-cases-1426-foreign-workers-dormitory-citizen-pr-moh-12658250
for Example
last year, DSA for STEM [Science / Technology / Engineering / Maths ] :
a few thousands of P6 students, sat for NJC Round 1 STEM test, concurrently at the same time, after which NJC eliminated out those who didn't do well, before invited short-listed candidates to turn up Round 2 STEM test
Definitely with covid break out this year,
will need to conduct it differently, if indeed DSA 2020 STEM were to proceed
because
can't possibly gather all the P6 students together, take test concurrently inside the same venue. This year, maybe need to break up the P6 students with face-mask on, into groups, say enter, several different Sec 1 or Sec 2 classroom to take test
And after EACH batch of P6 students had taken Round 1 STEM test,
BEFORE the next new batch of P6 students walk in, enter the same classroom to take the same identical test,
NJC teaching staff / admin staff / cleaners, please dis-infect the classroom thorough cleansing,
before allowing the Next new batch of students to enter the same classroom, just in case some student from the previous batch who had taken the test, is a asymptomatic covid virus carrier spreader.
MOH flags concern, over \"un-linked\" cases
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/moh-concern-unlinked-cases-tests-patients-gp-polyclinic-covid-19-12654730
Recall that sometime back in 2020 Term 1, after this Secondary 1 RI (Raffles Institution) boy who had covid-19 virus attended a 3rd foreign language lesson at MOELC premises,
1)
MOELC staff done extensive contact tracing,
investigated who are the students from other Secondary schools as well in Singapore, not just RI only, who had also sat in the same identical classroom, as this boy,
over and above having done a thorough cleansing dis-infection inside that particular MOELC classroom which he had sat in.
2)
RI shut down whole school temporarily on one Friday, to dis-infect thoroughly those classroom, which the boy had sat in previously for lessons.

Also, try to use those classroom, where you can open the windows big-big, wide-wide, for fresh air to circulate freely.
Avoid those \"air-con\" classroom, where virus keep circulating around, confined within the same classroom
do NOT use big hall, to conduct test.
Even if NJC were to partition up the hall into small partition or compartment,
this cunning, tricky contagious virus [if any] can still rise up to the ceiling, spill over, move over or \"cross over\" into the next partition, within the same hall
because
your partition cannot reach the top of the ceiling, so high up, seal off the ceiling
All these, required very detailed, meticulous planning
not just for STEM domain alone,
but for rest of the other DSA domain as well,
be it Sports or Performing Arts domain.
Thank you
==============================
on the other hand, NJC also cannot allow P6 students to take STEM test at home,
because
as seen in the NUS example, some NUS students cheated blatantly, when they took a programming test at home, during covid period

Hi all, I would like to ask how is kids doing in NJC. How is the stress level in this school? My girl will apply DSA under Music domain, Music is treated as an additional subject on top of other basic JH1 subjects. Because my girl is from neighborhood pri sch, in 2nd better class, her grade is above average, I am not sure will she be able to cope with the IP programme. I know healthy competition or reasonable stress for kid is good but I dont know how tough is the environment in NJC. Please share ...! Thank you

-
Hi all, could someone let me know the ratio for boys to girls for NJC IP in recent years? My son, now in P6, is DSA to NJC and these statistics will be very useful for us. Thanks everyone in advance.
-
not sure of the exact ratio… but definitely MORE girls than boys.
-
Boys: girls ratio is about 1: 3.5

The environment in NJC is pretty nurturing on the whole I would say. Very down-to-earth. Definitely no tough, cut-throat competitions/stress, at least not that I heard of
