Times up! What’s done is done, cannot be undone. Relax and wait out.
For those who has the breakdown and willing to share, please share.
For those who are not willing to share or don’t know the number, ignorance is a bliss!
Let’s wait for the official numbers on 12 August. -

Hi, if under 2C vacancies left 100, the total applicants 120 and its stated need to ballot for SC within 1km, does that means 120 applicants are within 1km? Or it might not be 120? Even 101 applicants also need to ballot right? If thats the case, will school reveal the exact numbers of applicants within 1km that need to ballot?

It might not be. It depends on the schools whether they want to reveal the breakdown.

Doesnt mean that all 120 applicants are SC less than 1 km, because
this year lacked info transparency,
hence, amongst these 120 applicants, there could be K2 children staying between 1 to 2 km, or more than 2 km trapped inside, their parents do not realize that balloting actually took place within 1 km.

Your question, if there are 100 vacancies, assuming that balloting occurred within 1 km for SC, and there are 101 applicants, that depend.
1) if the 101th applicant is also an SC less than 1 km, then Yes, enter into balloting. One unlucky kid will be balloted out.
But
2) if the 101th applicant is a PR, then No balloting is required, because
all the 100 SC staying less than 1 km, match the 100 vacancies perfectly, hence do not need to ballot. All the 100 SC got enrolled into the school, successfully. The PR, is out -

MOE updated their page yesterday so yes definitely need ballot for SC within 1km. Just don't know out of the 120 applicants, how many are not SC within 1km. Frustrated with the lack of transparency...

if sengkang or punggol, most of them will stay within 1km, just a few blur PR will be in, it will not change the odds alot.
if this school is traditionally balloting within 1km, most will know what they are doing. if its other wise, some may follow past history to apply, not knowing the increased risk.
whenever we look at balloting odds, usually we try to breakdown, but at the end of it, we need to assume all in the same category so that you can match the risk profile to the balloting odd (worst case).
Based on the example you provided, the odds of going in for those within 1km is high. It's really beyond your control. I think you will still feel the same anxiety whether its 101 or 120. Perhaps you will understand why some of the seniors here recommend ppl to avoid balloting. -
For those folks that were going for balloting, it’s another wait.
For those who are out, start to redraw the plan/selection.
This time it will be excess + catchment. Plus your proximity from the school. -

While I can understand your anxiety about your odds, if you call the school and it does not/can not reveal the exact numbers, there’s nothing you can do.

If you are within the balloting category, take heart that you definitely have ONE chance to be picked. (If your kids are twins or multiples, all of them go it together if any one of them is picked).
The odds do not really matter at this point since u can’t change them. To draw a parallel, during baby-making stage (fertilization of the egg) so many millions of sperms all rushing to the egg, you just need only ONE to fertilize the egg and you have life.
All our kids by virtue of their existence, are that winner. Think on the bright side.
