Thank you chenlaoshi, I was not aware of the 3 types of lessons in his chinese textbook. As compared to other subjects, there are no past year papers to practice with. And the number of chinese assessment books at bookstore are limited too. I am currently using 强化练习. Are there more others you can recommend to get?
Don't mention it, sunnyjenny. There's a brief introduction regarding these 3 types of lesson at the front of the textbook (at the preface, before contents page) and at the type of lesson is also listed at bottom left/right hand corner of each page next to the page number. 😉

You may want to take a look at:

      - 每周华文课文复习 Chinese Weekly Revision series (that comes in 1A and 1B books) by EPH for topical revision.
      - 中一快捷模拟试卷 Secondary Chinese Mock Test Papers Sec 1 by MC for general practice tailored towards O Level paper 2 format (https://www.goguru.com.sg/secondary-chinese-mock-test-papers-sec-1) --> do note that some school's lower Sec CL/HCL exam format may differ from O Level's (but there's no harm working on compre skills and expanding range of vocab)

          Hi

          I have a question:
Can HCL students retake the O level CL paper in Sec 4 (to try for A1), if they only scored A2 for O Level CL paper in Sec 3? How many chances to do the CL paper for HCL students?

I understand that most schools usu make the HCL students do their O level CL paper in Sec 3, then focus on O Level HCL in Sec 4. Those who don't do HCL at all are allowed to do their CL papers 1 & 2 in May and given a final chance to retake papers 1 & 2 in Nov at Sec 4.
          No

MOE forbid Sec 4 students to take both O-level (Standard Chinese and Higher Chinese) concurrently, in the same identical year.

MOE only allow students to take either O-level Standard Chinese or O-level Higher Chinese, in one year

My boy is in S1 express chinese class. When in pri sch, I will ensure he finishes both chinese textbook A and B. This time in sec sch, I found out that not all the chapters are taught and will not be tested in exams either. Maybe only 50% of textbook chapters are covered and tested.

I am rather concern with his teacher's decision on this. If all his sec sch chinese teacher makes the same choice, he will only know 50% of his chinese textbook by O levels.
Is your son's 2020 Term 4 Sec 1 end-of-September year-end Chinese assessment test scope out, since August National day is already over and Sec 1 SA2 is only 1.5 months away from today ?

Does his (SA2) final year-end test scope coverage include testing Sec 1 Chinese textbook 1B,
first 6 chapters from chapters (13 to 18),

            Or

test Total 12 chapters, ie. test the entire 1B Chinese textbook, from chapters (13 to 24) ?

For 2020 Sec 1 Year-end exam coming in September, any Secondary school testing Chinese vocabulary (ci-yu), from

              - textbook Sec 1A (Total 12 chapters),

              Plus

              - textbook Sec 1B (another 12 chapters) ?

Thus, from both textbooks, Sec 1 (1A and 1B),

Total number of chapters tested, since beginning of January (Term 1, until current Term 4)

              = 12 + 12
              = 24 chapters

does anyone have recommendation for HCL tuition for IP?

Would group or private tuition be more effective for secondary school students?

                        Hi mum24h,

                        1. Copy the question.
                        2. State your stand/view.
                        3. Apply 论证方法 (must involve 论点、论据、论证) to support your claim. Target is to have 3 论点 and/or 分论点.
                        4. Depending on the question, you may need to provide brief solutions/suggestions.
