Hi Kiasu_boy,
Thanks for helping with these questions.
a) Is there a school bus operator?
b) What is the most convenient way to go there besides taking car?
c) How long does it take to walk by MRT from Dover or Buona Vista or One-North stations?
d) Is there a bus they can take from the MRT stations in above?
It will be good to provide yr reference point where yr address starts off.
Many boys travel fr all over Spore to ACSI - Gombak, Tampines, Yishun, Woodlands, ... by public tpt on their own. Typically, you can take the train up to either Dover or Bouna Vista and do a bus transfer.
There’s many bus operators but you might try connect with following to see if they operate from your route. That’s is why it’s impt when you ask for information, you provide basic information as reference points.
Uncle Ong - +65 8288 3130 (operates fr central)
Ms Loo - +65 9437 7040 (operates fr Katong area)
Hope abv helps. -

b) Bus, most likely; also, MRT.
c) All three stations are within 10 min walk. It's good exercise, but One-North is closest, followed by Dover and then BV.
d) Yes, for Dover (74) and Buona Vista (I think 3 buses). One-North is nearest, you can just walk. -

Again, it depends on reference point of Traveller. For some, to go by Circle Line wld require changing of lines & for some the need to change twice which will incl a lot of stn-to-stn walking. In addition, some parents may prefer their child to go by small roads & not cross major ones which the One-North MRT route requires. Too much walking, rushing, sweating might not be the way to start an early morning. One-North is an option, but quite far & not sheltered.
a) Yes, there are.Kiasu_boy\" post_id=\"1993203\" time=\"1598839777\" user_id=\"185053:

Bus Transfer or Walking :-
BV MRT to ACSI - 17 min (partial covered walkways cut thro Star towards back-gate of ACJC facing Heritage & cross the traffic light almost every student does. Safer that way too.)
Connecting buses wld be the better option fr Bouna Vista MRT with a underground walk to MOE bus-stop 74, 196 & 91. Drop right outside sch gate side
Dover MRT to ACSI - 16 min (completely unsheltered)
Connecting buses fr Dover MRT wld be 166.
1-North MRT to ACSI - 11 min (completely unsheltered)
No bus transfer
Rmbr to include waiting time for buses. You don’t want to be late. Also, bear in mind students carrying heavy bags or project work for handing up.
Choose your route as you prefer. -
Hi autolycus and Esteema, we stay near Tai Seng area hence MRT would be an obvious choice.
DS likes ACSI and a couple of other schools. We are doing some ground work first so that when the PSLE results are out, we would already have in mind what the potential choices could be.
Thanks for the input and they are really useful. -

Esteema is absolutely right when saying that the walking route is important; Tai Seng to BV MRT station, then walking via Star Vista or taking a bus from MOE to ACS(I) probably gives most movement flexibility. One-North requires crossing the huge junction at North Buona Vista/Dover Road. I used to cut through the poly when using Dover, but you likely won't be using that station.

Hi ,
Can i check, for sec 1, ib program, students will mix with o level track students in certain subjects or they will have their own main class?
Are the boys usually hook on phone or so in the sch compound?
Is sec 1 ib workload ok?
Thanks in advance -

The Integrated Programme (IP) students have classes separate from the O-Level Track (Express) students. No, they don't normally get hooked on phones in the school compound. S1 IP workload is halfway between the old GEP workload and the Express workload; it's not easy, but not extremely difficult.

Based on past few years’ experience, Year 1 at ACSI is adjustment year & honeymoon year.

IB hv their own curriculum, not mixed with students fr Express classes.
Just rmbr to set aside June sch holidays for their project team meetings. Guess next year might still be a lot less difficult to juggle time with vaccine for covid still inconclusive so travel will not be in the way nor project team may be on Microsoft meets or zoom & the like.
As to whether the boys are hooked on hp, will depend on each individual’s self discipline.
What I find useful is to sign up as many enrichment lessons as possible to engage their time constructively. My child had the option to do 3rd language & it literally cuts him off fr unproductive chats or “game discussion groups”. Overtime, things got focussed towards classroom discussion, CCAs Grpchat & teacher-students class/subj chats.
At Secondary level, we can’t restrict these young fellows to learn to manage their own time, and they’ll need that community learning space.
The school hv a policy of hp usage only after classes & they’re expected to put Ho in Their own lockers.
Hope abv helps -

My boy is not gep..not sure he can cope or not.
Do the school support the kids in acad or they really have to seek help via tuition?
Thank you
