Hi all, my child will start her pri sch in 2023. So I have started planning her potential school.

Currently, I am living within 1km of nan chiau, and will be in phase 2c. As far as I understand, the chances of her getting into the sch thru this mean is very low.

The other alternative is pcps. I can register her under phase 2a(1). And I believe the chances of her getting in is very high.

So, do you guys think this is a no brainer? I should just aim for pcps.

The only concern I have is distance, but I am open to moving (though I prefer status quo). Is it worth moving for pcps?

Just want your opinion on this.. thanks..
      go for 2A(1)

“Distance” is not the issue. “How” you get to school is. If you are open to taking school bus or driving there yourself, it’s not an issue. There are several people I know who are living in SK / PG but studying in PCPS.

Your girl is SG51 boom year baby. You can observe the SG50 batch before you to see how many times oversubscribed NCPS will be. It is already several times oversubscribed in normal years.

PCPS phase 2A1 is a confirmed seat. Versus the NCPS near your house is like Toto. If you don’t mind other choices near your house for 2CS, and you only have public transport available, then give up PCPS seat. Otherwise ya it’s a no brainer.

Based on go there.sg, from NCPS to PCPS need either 2 buses taking 65min or train-bus taking 59min. Whereas drive straight there by car/Grab takes only 16min. School bus (assuming the school bus operator has that route) will take slightly longer cos of the multiple stops.

Key in your postal code in this website (One Map School Query), it will show you in red (<1km) and blue (1-2km) the schools that are near your house: https://www.onemap.sg/main/v2/schoolquery

If you are using caregiver’s address, MOE only recognizes the grandparent or parent’s sibling as “caregiver”. Their address will be taken as under 1-2km category, even if it is <1km from the school.

If the foster parent is under an official fostering arrangement by MSF, please check with your MSF contact or ask the FCO to help get the answer, whether FP address considered as <1km or 1-2km category.

In recent years, CCK Pri and South View usually need balloting <1km.

                  Concord may need balloting 1-2km.

Balloting history up till 2017 is here. Sorry I don’t have later than that:

TUR = Take up rate accumulative from phase-1, APP = Application rate vs that phase vacancies.
