According to my dd: The seeds would have a higher chance of germinating as they are dispersed clustered around the parent plant and conditions would have had to be suitable for germination and growth of the parent plant in order for it to mature into an adult plant.

Seed dispersal to prevent overcrowding and reduce competition for nutrients, light, water and space, so that the young plant can develop more healthily.jakoh\" post_id=\"1997736\" time=\"1601957082\" user_id=\"151698:

Likewise my gal! She put the same answer:)[/quote]yep, when qn is about seed dispersal - the so called model answer must include on
<o prevent overcrowding and reduce competition for nutrients, Sunlight, water and space > i drilled this into my kid's mind too , to take note, there is no compettition for air. -
I thought the question was about advantage of splitting over wind dispersal?

If this year (2020, exiting last Tscore batch),
My gal commented that Science paper was easier than some top school papers , esp Booklet A:) Overall she was happy 😃
Phew! Glad the papers are finally over for her! All the best to the kids who are taking Higher Mother Tongue tmr!
all 4 subjects manageable,
next year 2021 (AL) can be ... similar to this year, because is pioneering first turbulent batch AL, may give chance because everyone is so new to AL, just like this year covid, a turbulent roller coaster year -
Seed dispersal refers to all the methods but splitting is one of the methods of doing so. Splitting actually leads to overcrowding overtime. So she feels that they’re asking for the specific advantages of the splitting method and not just seed dispersal in general.

Think that’s what DS understood too...

Splitting is one of the methods. Read carefully is it splitting not seed dispersal. Advantage is splitting are typically found close to the parent plant and may not be dispersed to another island.
0 marks for saying it is seed dispersal by wind… overcrowding as nothing to do with it. This year science may have change the way how we ask our kids to memorize template answer. Everyone will sure say fight for competition… -
The advantage of splitting is that the seeds will get scattered even if there is little or no wind.
