Hi all, I have a few questions about the sch
1. Is social innovation programme demanding? Do they need to stay back in sch more than once a week?
2. What are the books used for sec 1 literature?
3. Is it hard to transfer from O level programme to Ip prog at the end of sec 2?
Thanks! -

1. I entered Cedar through DSA-SI and yes, it is demanding, but the stress does range from what activities your child is selected to participate in through SI. I am not sure about the others, but in sec 1 and 2, I participated in the Shell NXplorers competition which involves a lot of STEM skills and is rather demanding. However, if your child has good self-discipline, with the help of the teacher mentors, it should be okay. You do have to prepared to handle some small breakdowns here and there, though!
2. Novel: Wonder by R.J. Palacio, poetry: Little Things (anthology of mostly local poetry)
3. If your child is consistent with her revision and pays attention in class, it shouldn't be too big an issue. Sec 2 will be the more intense and content-heavy year, so if your child would like to go to the IP programme, she has to be very consistent in her revision. If you're wondering about the criteria to transfer, the opportunity is given to the top 20% of the cohort (around 150 students in the O-level cohort, so about 30 students) which is not too hard to achieve.
Hope my reply answered your queries! -
:thankyou:

I strongly encourage your daughter to take up Cedar Girls DSA O-level offer, via Social Innovation programme. It is an excellent training programme for the girls. In fact, Social Innovation is one of the signature programme, inside Cedar Girls Secondary school.
And at end of Year 2022 Sec 2 streaming exercise , if your girl do well and if Cedar were to offer her a place starting Sec 3 IP, affliated to Victoria Junior College, do accept & grab the IP offer. -
Thanks for the advice. π

Hi All,
My daughter scored very low in Science and failed in Geography. Teacher advised to make her to head start bit earlier so that she could cope good for Secondary 2. If anyone could share the Secondary 2 Express notes of Science, I can buy from you.
Thank you

Pls let me know if you want.SW82\" post_id=\"1999714\" time=\"1603271809\" user_id=\"26386:

Dear parents/students of Cedar,
my child has obtained 249 and even though she is at the borderline of the cutoff point, we are considering for the βOβ level program of Cedar. We have some concerns and your input will greatly help us to make the decision.
Assuming she is lucky to get into the school of her choice:
Since she is at the borderline for last yearβs cutoff point, we worry that she is not as academically strong when compared to her peers who entered the school with higher tscores, hence, making it more pressurized for her to perform. Any insights on my thought?
I also understand that at Sec 3 they will be split into different classes based on the combinations given. Is it true that those who are taking the combined science will be at a disadvantage when they select JC?
