mum2jj:
Sorry, tag along this thread for info. on Maris Stella Primary. I couldnt find it under Hougang or Serangoon. Could any kind souls let me know, I would like to check the statistics for 2009 to gauge my chances for this year's registration.
Maris Stella is actually under Toa Payoh. Please find the balloting history for the school http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/toa-payoh. -
Thank you Grandmaster, found it. Seems not so popular, is it becoz of the location? Any parents with kids in Maris Stella and advise me on the following :-
1. available buses to hougang (mrt station is quite to my place).
2. any school bus operating to hougang and kallang area?
3. how is the curriculum? do your kids find it stressful?
4. is it a SAP primary school like Holy Innocent? -

Wow if my dd's principal said that to me during the PV interview, I would rather go spend my 40 hours in another school.
went to PC for PV interview. was told by the teacher that the new school pricinple was considering to accept PV as many as 2 x the number of place available. this means that at least half (60)of the PV will not get a place. -

I agree with Luanee. 50% rejection rate for Phase 2B?? That is indeed a very nasty situation to be in.. -
during the interview , the vice principal did mentioned to us twice amount…and we hv wrote in a few times to find out whether 60 or 120…but they didn’t reply…haiz…
anybody managed to start pv with peichun already?
i would like to know their system, whether first come first serve by signining up on excel spreadsheet online? or they choose for you… -
Dear parents, i am very keen on St Andrews or ACS. My son is born in Yr 2006.
However, looking at PV. Read that that ACS don’t even take in parent volunteers, ACS seems really tough to get in. And from SA pass history, seems there is chance if i do PV though i stay in 2km away.
Reason of choosing: 1) Christian background 2) Afflifilated to Seconday 3) Cousins are there
Concerns: 1) However, hearing from some SA secondary that SA standard has dropped in recent years and discipline is not very good. How true is it?
2) All boys school - My boy best friend is a girl in his kindergarten
Any advice that i should still go for PV next year?

Maris Stella is a All boys school. The school has vacancies for 320 students per year for P1 intake compared to many schools that offers only approx. 250 vacancies or less. They are stituated in areas where it's not highly populated.Thank you Grandmaster, found it. Seems not so popular, is it becoz of the location? 1. The Circle line is just next to the school.
2. Hougang i am quite sure, as for kallang area, you can check with their school bus operator.
3. My son enjoys studying there, he don't find it stressful at all. As for me, I find it rather stressful as they have CA1, SA1, CA2 and SA2 throughout the year and being a full school, their studying year is short , the pace can be rather fast.
4. Yes, Maris Stella is also a SAP school. -

On a lighter side, I saw that u listed one of ur concerns as that your boy's best friend is a girl in his kindergarten. Erm so u prefer him to go to a co-ed school as u are worried he wont mix well with other boys? Seriously I dont need u need to worry too much on that aspect. He surely has some good friends who are boys too I guess? -
CHIJ Primary (Toa Payoh) will temporarily function at holding location, 3 Geylang Bahru Lane S(339626) (Former Victoria School), from Jan 2011 to Dec 2012 due to upgrading.
Do note that the school's permanent address will be used for distance measuring in case of balloting during P1 registration exercise.
