It said that there will also be no change in how the affiliation priority works, with pupils still required to meet the minimum requirements of the secondary school and pick them as their first choice.\"
It is so brief and skimpy, i'm not sure whether to feel relieved or not. -
Affliation will still exists, probably either 1 or 2 points at most. By end of June (2021), we will all know

I think you should be “somewhat” relieved, if your intention is to stick to the family. The AMR is NOT a bonus point scheme - it’s “pre-informed” and known rather than “post-result” which may move with the COP (of whatever fanciful name MOE is going to come up with). At least you have a fixed target to aim for (assuming you will also clear the 80% threshold).

It means ACS can continue to offer maybe AMR score of AL12 to ACSI, and AL24 to ACSBR. No different from before. -

On the NYGH DSA Q&A, the Principal said that:
a) the affiliate cutoff has been published - not sure if the AL8(M) on the MOE website is definitive?
b) 20% of the spaces are available for affiliated students (around 80 spaces vs a cohort of ~400).
Obviously, the 20% is normally what applies to non-affiliates. Further, it doesn't seem like NYGH could ever hit the 80% cap (~320 spaces), so seems like they have adopted some other internal measure/limitation (not sure why).

What parents would probably want to know is: based on the MOE simulation, did the 81st pax score 8(M) and get balloted out by the computer? Or did she score 8(P) and hence failed becos did not meet the COP? -

NYPS parents have not received any info or announcement from the school/NYGH regarding the AMR so far. I don’t know why she mentioned an internal cap of 80 seats. Maybe it is a new policy. In previous years, there wasn’t a hard cap of 80 seats. When the affiliation COP was 250, NYGH P assured that as long as a nyps girl who scored at least 250 (including HCL bonus, thus the lowest t-score was 247+3) put NYGH as first choice, she would get in. Even the min. 20%-set-aside-for-non-affiliation-girls rule did not affect the nyps girls, as NYGH easily gets her 20% non-affiliation girls from DSA.

It is not clear if MOE’s simulation of affiliated COP of 8(M) means they considered all affiliated girls who got admitted to NYGH the previous year and then compute their AL scored and the highest AL score amongst these girls was 8(M)? Or they cut off at the 80th girl and that 80th girl scored 8(M)? -
As I understand it, the computer simulation wasn’t converting the actual entrants’ T score into AL score and then found that the last girl admitted had 8(M).
It was ranking all the affiliated girls who put NYGH as their first choice, and then filling up the allocated seats. Not clear whether the limiting factor was the 80 seats cap (possible balloting for the 80th seat among those who scored 8M), or was it the requisite mark of <8(M) and then they happened to have 80 girls scoring that. -
In practical terms, if there are only 80 seats for affiliates, I would expect the 2 top classes (if they still exist) to be quite guaranteed of entry based on PSLE score (if they continue scoring well). The remaining classes…would have to work harder or go elsewhere.
Reality bites. Even in my DS school, I would expect the top 2 classes to be the ones qualifying for the better affiliated secondary. They certainly have the track record of scoring well.
