my DC gpa 3.7 so should be coming GPA 4 and above can get in…wasn’t aware it was only 1 class and now its so popular that they need 3 classes or more to accomodate, then in first place shouldn’t start if they are not equip with enough resources for more classes

Yes, the school could have mentioned beforehand that Computing enrolment is capped at 1 class (out of total 12 classes?), so that expectations are better managed.

Can understand the disappointment… Perhaps your DC can still pick up and develop coding skills outside of school if really keen.

Btw is the Sec 2 GPA independent of the Sec 1 GPA? It’s not cumulative from Sec 1 right?

In my son’s IP school, Computing is read as a 9th subject, and you need to fulfil GPA requirements in Sec 2 to qualify to read Computing. But once you clear the GPA requirement, there is no ‘cap’ on the number of students. However, one limitation is you can’t take both Biology and Computing - it’s either one. Some of the special programmes also cannot be conbined with Computing, for example, BSP.

Would recommend you explore the following links and videos at:

                    https://rivervalleyhigh.moe.edu.sg/e-open-house/home#experience

                    https://rivervalleyhigh.moe.edu.sg/e-open-house/rvip/non-academic-programme

                    https://rivervalleyhigh.moe.edu.sg/e-open-house/rvip/rvip-flagship-programmes/construct-integrate-differentiate-programme

RV has a systematic leadership development programme for all students, the highlight of which is Y.LEAD in Year 3 (helmed by Year 5 students).

Does RV have a very sporty culture whereby the house system is very strong that they expect everyone to cheer super loudly on sports day and daily during announcements in the mornings?

Are students expected to pass Nafa tests? Will they be made to sit for the tests again and again until they pass?

Some ip schools are that into the sports culture…

                        Dear Parents,

To understand how the 2020 PSLE cohort performed and therefore have a better perspective of how the COPs of different secondary schools are likely to move (ie. increase or decrease), can parents of this year's cohort kindly help to post the highest T-score (please EXCLUDE the HCL bonus points) in their child's respective primary school by clicking on the below link?

                        https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/t-scores/

Currently, the table only reflects the t-score information of < 20 schools which makes it difficult for any meaningful analysis. Hence, would like to appeal for more parents to step forward and share the highest t-score data in their child's primary school by clicking on the above link.

                        Many thanks in advance!

                        :thankyou:
