Wow, such evil thots. I have no child in P6 this year, just to be clear. πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

That’s why I don’t understand why there are people who say COP may go up so it is risky to put xx school because you may not get it.

Just put it in if you want to try. Even if you are like 4-5 points away from last year COP, as long as you have other sufficiently-lower COP schools to catch you.

This is the last year of t score - and one of the advantages is choice of school does not matter. So go for it!

(Unless you are in the situation where you may lose your affiliation bonus if your dream school is not your affiliated school and your t score may not meet the COP for non-affiliated students).

I certainly agree with this. Just put the dream school as the first choice. It is all about demand and supply. There are 6 choices anyway. Who will know if the school is adding extra classes or reducing its class size. Who on earth will know COP for PLMGS will drop to 237. The person who choose this school is very lucky.

i think dunman high is risky. their cop is like 255, and even though it's a SAP school and your hcl points will be added (246 + 3 = 249) and 255 is kind of far from 249. and their cop has never dropped below 250 (for the past 13 years)
            Dunman High's COP*
            2021 -
            2020 - 255 (-6)
            2019 - 256 (-4)
            2018 - 255 (-7)
            2017 - 257 (-5)
            2016 - 258 (-4)
            2015 - 253 (-5)
            2014 - 256 (-2)
            2013 - 256 (-6)
            2012 - 256 (-4)
            2011 - 257 (-3)
            2010 - 258 (-3)
            2009 - 260 (-3)
            2008 - 260 (-4)
            2007 - 258 (-4)

it's usually 255+, so i dont think you can get into dunman high with 249. but if you really want to go there, then just put it there. πŸ™‚

the others should be okay! all the best πŸ™‚

:? The actual COP will not be known until after MOE concludes its posting exercise.

Sorry, I be frank, hope u don't mind

Dunman High is out, because DHS being a single-track IP school, will never drop below 250.

Unlikely that Temasek JC drop to 246, but can still put it in if u want to try for an IP school

                At 249 (your 246 +3),

you will be posted to Anglican High & Chung Cheng High (Main), so is a matter of which one u prefer. Is your preferred choice

Naturally, students & parents who prefer Chinese orientated environment, will prefer CCH (Main), because of the affliation to Nanyang Junior College. The name \"Nanyang\" sounds Chinesey, whereas Anglican High is affliated to St Andrew JC, which some people may not like SAJC because some people associate SAJC as a \"fun-loving \" JC

For your #5 and #6 last 2 choices, can swap your Paya Lebar Methodist school before St Anthony Cannosian, unless you are saying that PLMGS is far from your house or inconvenient to reach there ?

                Because
PLMGS, this Girls school itself, the Express stream, is a far much better school, compared to St Anthony Cannosian.

                Furthermore,
PLMGS is affliated to Anglo-Chinese Junior College, which to me is a better JC, compared to Catholic Junior College, which St Anthony Cannosian is being affliated to.

For me, I don't even want to put St Anthony Cannosian as #6 last choice. Instead, I would rather substitute it by TKGS becsuse in my personal opinion, TKGS is a much better school than St Anthony Cannosian , even though TKGS doesn't have any affliation at all to any JC whereas St Anthony Cannosian still have. But that's my own opinion only. However if u think that having an affliated JC is still safer than not having any affliation at all, then stick back to St Anthony Cannosian as your last choice

But at this point, let me alert u one important thing -

Since you have done exceedingly well in your Psle HCL, warmest Congratulations : distinction, 3 points, definitely no mean feat, not easy. Certainly, you have demonstrated a masterly level of primary school Higher Chinese!

I assume you have received your MOE Eligibility letter, to pursue HCL from Sec 1.

What happen to St Anthony Cannosian Sec HCL students ?

All Sec 1 HCL students, in this year 2020, need to travel to Ngee Ann Secondary for HCL lessons AFTER school dismissed. Can't recall is it travel once or travel twice a week, to Ngee Ann Secondary, just to attend HCL lessons. Is this what u want ?

Any way, by all means clarify and confirm with the Chinese HOD (St Anthony Cannosian) about this travelling thing, for HCL students

For those scoring 234 and above.

Will strongly recommend Xinmin Secondary (XMS).
Especially for those staying north east area.
                  Serangoon,Hougang ,sengkang and punggol.

Smaller cohort of only 4 Express class which is 130-150 students.
As compare to full Express stream school of 240-300 students per cohort.

Xinmin secondary is an autonomous school.

                  High % eligible for JC.
                  2019 90.36%
                  2018 93.8 %
                  2017 91.7%
                  2016 93.8%
Which compute into 9 in 10 Express stream students qualify for JC.

Another significant factor is XMS offers triple science class. Which greatly enhanced
Students chances entering JC science stream.

Note: XMS is among few autonomous schools that offers triple science.

I think we need to put away the misconception that triple science class is for the cream of the crop. It's quite different now. And you can't take trip sci in JC anyway. In fact, taking 2 science, 2 math, 2 humans is a safer route for L1R5.

Agree. In fact most of our leaders are humanity major, not science.

My nephew chosen a secondary school that only

offer 1 elective humanity option (history) for triple science class during Sec 3 subject combination selection. He is not good in history, so he is stuck with that weak subject for his L1R5 for JC application. My kids Seconday school offer 4 elective humanity subject options for triple
Science class to choose from in Sec 3, so they have the luxury to select the one most comfortable with. My advise for parents/ students when choosing Seconday school, may want to keep in mind the number of humanity options available during Sec 3 subject combination selection and what they are.
