Child aiming for ip school 1, she has 2 points above it's last year's cop. 2nd choice ip school 2, she has 10 points above it's last year's cop. In the event that she doesn't successfully get ip school 1, will the computer allocate spaces to all those who put ip school 2 as first choice first, meaning those will lower t scores will be chosen first and she will be allocated to her 3rd choice school instead?
The allocation process has been touch upon in Timmy21 post early this morning. You may refer to it for details.

When was the DSA per school reduced ? Someone mentioned the recent years’ COP is more accurate as DSA allocation was reduced in recent years . Thanks !

          Hi,

          I have a question.

Secondary schools with affiliation to primary sch allocates only 20% of its vacancies to non-affiliation students.

With a score of 260, what are the chances of entering Catholic High O levels track ? ( my child isn't interested in IP at all)
          Tks
          At 260,

Yes, your son can enter Catholic High (O-level).

Last year (2019), the Cut-off was at 249, for O-level.

COP for CHS (O-level) is normally (above 250, below 255). Hence your son at 260, Yes, qualify to enter CHS (O-level)

          https://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=7102

          =======================

If your P6 son is from the affliated Catholic High primary but he is not keen in EJC and prefer to try other IP schools instead of CHS (IP) but worry that COP going to increase this year and want to come back to Catholic High (O-level) later on but already lost the affliation advantage because you had placed some other schools as #1 choice instead of CHS,

          Example

          1) RI
          2) Hwa Chong

          3) Catholic High (O level)

          4) ...

          No worry,

can still come back to Catholic High (O level) because your 260 is high enough for O level track

            Answer to your question:
            1) Yes, with a score of 260, the chance of entering CHS O level track is 100%. (historically high was 251)
            2) It is not ONLY 20% goes to non-affiliation, it is AT LEAST 20%. There are students in CHS primary who don't take affiliation to CHS but choose other schools so affiliation students may be less than 80% then non-affiliation will be more than 20% hence don't worry about too many students choose CHS O level and COP goes above 260, that's impossible.

            Some advices to you:
            1) With 260, is CHS O level your son's 1st choice? I suppose you will put other schools with higher COP at higher order.
            2) Why only O level not IP IB? If your son is only interested in O level track, which JC would he like to go later? For O level track, he will still need to go through O level exam in order to get into his dream JC. Other than making a tough try 4 years later, why not choose his dream school with JC for 6 years straight? A score of 260 is more than COP of any top schools for boys in recent few years. His chances are high.
            3) When you say your child isn't interested in IP at all, I suppose you mean CHS IP as it only leads to Eunoia JC (of course EJC is a very good JC.)

Congrats for your child for such a good result, hope he can make to the dream school he likes.

Hi, i am asking for my friend son, may I know for 255+2, the chances to out hci as first choice is low?

              Compare to those
              257+0
              254+3
              256+1

              Thank you

Hi, my DD’s score is 257 (no hcl) and I live in Bishan.

I am planning to put the following schools ranked in order of preference (hence it’s a bit strange order for choice 5):
Choice 1: RGS (her dream school although COP is 261)
                Choice 2: NYGH (COP: 261)
Choice 3: St Nic IP (COP: 257)
Choice 4: Cedar Girls IP (COP: 253)
                Choice 5: Dunman High / NJC (COP: 255 / 254)
Choice 6: SCGS IP (COP: 252)

Are choice 4 and 6 fairly safe with COP +4 and +5?
Or should I move SCGS up to put in say Cedar Girls OL (COP: 249) as Choice 6 to provide for more "safety net" in case of freak COP?
I have been reading this thread and many seems to expect COP this year to go up…
Also, I read a few comments that one should build buffer of 8-10 COP buffer which seems like a lot to me… so not sure if it’s really necessary…
Thanks very much for your kind advice as DD is my first child and I am quite clueless.
                Thanks!!

These are the seldom discussed considerations of IP track:
                  - required self discipline as it is not as structured as O level track. More Suitable for self starters
                  - understand around 6% of IP students drop out of
It. Probably for the above reason

255 + 2 = 257 has a reasonable chance. Suggest to put it first if he is interested since there are five more choices after that. Other than the hidden decimal places, 255+2 has the same chance as the other combinations you list. Good luck!

                        1) Choice 4, 5, 6 are quite safe. COP goes up or down is not predictable, nobody knows. 8-10 points buffer is not true.
                        2) Order of choice 4, 5, 6 shall be based on preference, not safe net.
                        3) Expected to enroll in SNGS, be prepared to study HCL. RGS and NYGH chances are slim.
                        Good luck!
