Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Hi,

Would like to get opinions from people here.

My SG50 girl is entering P1 next year and here are my options:

1. Phase 2A1 - Canossa Catholic Pri Sch (abt 11km from home)

2. Phase 2A2 - Zhonghua Primary (10km from home)

3. Phase 2C - Mee Toh School (<1km from home, staying at the block beside the school)

I’m in a dilemma because of location.

IMO, ballot Mee Toh Phase 2C <1km, if unsuccessful, go for nearest school in 2CS with vacancies.

Beacon is my 2nd choice, and from past history it looks quite safe to secure a slot in Phase 2C?


My husband is an ex student of Zhenghua Primary School but I am not as keen in it as it is further for us. However if we choose this school, we can register under Phase 2A2 which is more of less quite secured.

I’m just worried coz its SG50 batch and I’m not sure how it will plan out. Any advice on the above?

If your backup is Beacon and you are within 1km of the school, there’s probably nothing much to worry about. For past few years, Beacon places aren’t even fully taken up, even after Phase 2CS.

Your option would probably be ballot at West Spring in 2C, failing which pick Beacon at 2CS.

Simple.

Apply Cedar. Because you have ZERO chance at Hong Wen.

You are due to register in 2022. I think it's still very safe for >2km in 2B, no ballot required for the past few years.

If you are 100% sure of getting that 2B endorsement, you can consider moving nearer. Otherwise, you have to take your chance at balloting or consider another school.

Hi Parents,


My daughter is a PR born in 2019. I’m thinking of changing houses. I’m open to any location which will give me a good chance to apply her into a good primary school. But being PR with no affiliation, most of the top schools are impossible.

Are there any good schools with a better chance of admission? Can you please suggest some schools I can shortlist?
Want an overall school which is good in academics as well as extra curriculum activities. Any religion ok.
