make sure he is well prepare for the test to start.

      Hi mummyjoyce,

How did u prepare ur child for the test that time ?

My son did the SST HAST last week and comments that many of the math questions that came out appears to be sec math, eg, exponential, etc. I dun feel like spending too much time preparing for these tests. On the other hand, seems like it's not enough to only know up to p6 math šŸ˜ž

Wonder how to prepare. As it is just a 4 months to PSLE, and now to prepare for new things??

DD just did the turn around and said she dunn want SST. Should i try to talk to her or let it be?

Anyway if the exam is about stuff taught in Sec it doesnt make sense. Do they want children who know more or have the potential to learn difficult concepts so that they can learn more. I tot that was the purpose of sec school - to teach you

This whole DSA thing is getting to my nerves, sigh!

How did your son know it appears to be sec math unless he seen sec math before? I mean it could be that the questions are borrowed from math olympiad, which will be more logical as it is not fair to test on sec math.

He said some questions has an 'e' with something that looks like the notation for 'square', and he recalls seeing such symbols on the calculator. I din really ask too much details on the rest, but overall, he says 'some' questions are on topics that he has never come across before, despite having math olympiad training before.

My son who did 2 HAST tests last year, says the math section is not that difficult, lah.

some one tell me whether my son can enroll to NUSH 😢 😢 😢

              My son is burning out because of his stress :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

              he won SMOPS SILVER
              NMOS BRONZE
              UNSW Distinction
              ACS(I) Bronze šŸ˜‰
              Reply me soon as possible :?: :?: :?: :?:

What is he so stress about? I think no one other than the nush admission officials can give an accurate reply, there are always exceptions here and there. Besides i believe they look out for \"soft\" qualities through their camps.
Well he better learn to live with the stress, there will be pretty much of it if he enroll to nush successfully anyway =).

Do you have any idea what kind of question will come out for the test :? :?
He does not no what to study for it. Please reply me soon as possible :?: :?: :?:

My son went for NUS DSA last year and he was successful in getting a place. Perhaps, I can share my experience here with you, but you would have to find out if there is any change in process through the school's website nearer to date.

From my memory, this is the first school to start DSA process each year and the first step is to sit for a Maths and Science paper test. There were any candidates, I believe it was close to 2000 last year and the test was conducted in several venues. From there, around 400 (if my memory does not fail me) were selected for the 2 half-days camp conducted over 2 Saturdays within the school. The range of activities is quite comprehensive, including lab work for Physics, Biology and Chemistry and also a Maths paper test (not something from the usual Primary school syllabus). My son enjoyed the camp very much, you have to pay for it though.

About 150 confirmed places were offered after the camp. There were some waitlist offers but I do not know the number.

As my son did not choose that school to continue his sec education, I can't tell you how studying there is like.

                Hope this helps.
HI! MY SON IS IN P6 THIS YEAR AND HE WANTS TO TAKE DSA FOR IT. HE WENT TO THE OPEN HOUSE AND ASKED THE PRINCIPLE WHAT KIND OF QUESTIONS WILL COME OUT. HIS REPLY WAS \"I CANNOT TELL YOU WHAT WILL COME OUT AS THIS TEST IS TO TEST YOUR GENERAL SKILLS\".

pLEASE GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION YOU KNOW ABOUT LIKE SOME EXAMPLE QUESTIONS :?: :?:

Doubt anyone actually has the questions to share. Since all the kids taking the test do not have the privilege of seeing the questions beforehand, why not just let your son go for it. If he really fails to enter through DSA, it could mean the school is not really suitable for him?

So what if he had math olympiad training before? NUS High is a reputable school and organises the national olympiad. Believe me, 2 sec is all they take to set a question most olympiad training centres do not cover
