        Last year (2020),

at end of Sec 2 streaming,
to choose Sec 3 subject combination.

        Appreciate this school !

St Margaret Secondary school is kind, generous, compassionate, have a big heart, considerate, by giving chance to end of Sec 2 students to take Sec 3 Additional Maths, for students who have achieved minimum B4 (60 %), at Sec 2 year-end exam.

        Many, many Thanks !
Appreciation, to the Maths HOD, and also St Margaret school Principal, for making this possible

        because

a lot of other Secondary schools in Singapore, required better than B4, before can allow their students to take Sec 3 Additional Maths. For this, i truly appreciate & applaud schools like St Margaret, that show compassion and are willing to give chance to pupils, who keenly desire the opportunity to learn (study) Upper Secondary \"A\" Maths. Once again, Thank you very much !

        Why use the word, \"compassionate \" ?

        Reason ?

        Because

Had the pupil remained in some other Secondary school, not studying in St Margaret, whereby the minimum requirement imposed upon is no lesser than a Distinction (A1 or A2), at Sec 2 year-end streaming exercise (exam), then this pupil would have been denied the chance to study (learn) Sec 3 Additional Maths. The door would have been shut closed, out of bound, for this pupil. No chance to learn Upper Sec \"A\" Maths, at all. Yes, there are some schools like this, very stringent in their requirement to do \"A\" Maths.

        What's worse is,
        the student's misery doesn't just end at Sec 4 (O-level) full-stop,

        because

when move up onto Junior College (JC1) later on, because this pupil didn't do any O-level \"Additional\" Maths before, hence the pupil's JC1 choice of subject combination become very restricted, narrowed-down, limited.

Many JCs' requirement to do A-level \" H2 \" Maths is that, the student must have sat for Additional Maths (O-level) pre-requiste, first.

may refer to 2020 (last year) Sec 2 year end streaming exercise slides, found inside SMGS website

If your daughter takes the first train from TUAS LINK MRT (the furthest) at 6am and change to Circle line to Farrar road MRT - the entire journey is about 53 min. (say one hour) - she should be able to reach school by 7am

I am staying at Jurong West, looking at applying to SMSS, via DSA (Visual Arts).

Any parents can share what is the chance?
My gal results will probably land her in between Express/NA. Hence, looking at going to SMSS, through DSA, but to NA, possible?

Hi, i would like to find out if there is anyone’s daughter get into SMSS without affliation & used to be mixed primary school, how are they coping? My daughter love the school but worried about those friendship fights/bitchy friends from girls school. How do I assure her that there’s also other pros to be in a girls school? Anyone can share how’s the culture like in SMSS? Tks!

Hi kmom, my girl was from a mixed school and joins SMSS this year. She’s coping well and had a day out with a few of her classmates during Jun holidays.
