If you’d like to start your children on a multivitamin, I suggest an inexpensive one that tastes good. Any store-brand generic chewable multivitamin for children is absolutely fine and will cover what you need.

I grew up taking Scotts Cod Liver Oil, and is now giving 3+yrs old DS1 a daily tablespoon every night since he was about 2. I read that in the early years, fishermen would throw the (supposedly useless) livers of Cod fish (actually any other fishes including sharks) into barrels for the livers to decompose and ferment. The oil that separate on top of the water would then be used for consumption, and apply on hulls of boats as water-proof materials etc. Nowadays, Cod Liver Oil is produced by cooking the Cod fishes’ livers to extract out the oil. And for Scotts Cod Liver Oil, the percentage of oil verses emulsion is so little compared to previously (probably a decade ago before GSK bougth the original company over). Hmm… who can confirm on this? Anyway, Cod Liver Oil is supposedly to be good not only for kids but for adults too.

              Hi all,

Just want to share with you.

My family doctor had actually highly recommend fish oil for my kids. He personally felt that his children had better concentration after taking them for a while.

However he did mentioned that we have to be careful with our choice. The product should be molecularly distilled and of pharmaceutical grade. This will ensure that they are free from heavy metals, mercury etc.

For kids, so far only found Nordic to have such qualities. I have just gotten mine. Hope my kids can have better immunity (better concentration will be a bonus  )

Maybe childlife cod liver oil from GNC has the same quality as Nordic?

                    Hi Ninalim,

do you know the total mg of EPA and DHA for childlife? The daily requirement is combi of 500mg. Realised that not a lot of fish oil has a total combi of 500mg leh. Maybe I will check it out at GNC too. 😉

for fish oil, the best absorption is when the EPA: DHA is in the ratio of 3:2

i got mine from Pharmanex for my kids.. its in capsule form but i put it into their milk but you have to introduce early la.. cos they wont know..if you give in the later part, they will feel the smell.. 😛 hehe..

please also note that cod liver oil is different from fish oil.. i personally wont introduce cod liver oil for my kids.. heheh.. 😛

Has anyone used the Rhino Gummy Omega3? Was recommended that by the assistants at GNC? any reviews on it to share?
