Depends on which CCAs I guess. Maybe sports/music teams require more regular practice.

Your girl’s school teachers are so “on” to make them come back to do SA1 practice papers :yikes: My DS would probably protest like siao, all content returned to teacher liao. I heard some schools did give the kids mock SA1 papers in their lead up to WA2, for that same reason - to give them a feel of timed full Paper 2 practice.

Hello hello! Reviving this thread, which has been very “cold” so far...

How are my fellow parents doing? Are your kids still having their P5 WAs?

Mine WA over last week & now waiting for the papers to be marked...

I’m thinking what to revise during the upcoming June holidays...

        - CL: the weakest subject, probably have to go thru P4 and P5 vocab all over again to recap. Speak more & read more.
        - SC: tutor will pre-teach T3 topics in advance, my side I’ll probably get him to finish up all those PYP OEQ that he didn’t manage to complete.
        - MA: certain topics very weak in the problem sums, will spend time to practice more.
        - EL: do PYP for S&T and Compre.

Any blind spots that I missed out? What are the usual components that most kids find difficult?[/quote]
        Hi zac's mum,

For CL, you may want to work on preparation for oral examination with DS - expanding on his range of vocab, esp. for nouns and verbs, starting with objects/places that we often come into contact in our daily lives (https://sandaochinese.com/%E5%B0%8F%E5%AD%A6%E5%8F%A3%E8%AF%95%E8%8B%B1%E6%B1%89%E8%AF%8D%E6%B1%87%E5%AF%B9%E7%85%A7%E8%A1%A8/) . Given that the current Pri 5 batch will only have 2-3 more official oral examinations before PSLE and the actual exam is in Aug, it's good to start preparation early. 😉

Thank u chenlaoshi, for your suggestions & also for so kindly sharing your materials!

DS school has been giving them LC mock practice after this recent WA but not Oral.

At least one (P5) WA2 pushed to Term 3 (was scheduled Mon/Tues). Still waiting to hear on two others. I thought they may try to clear all by Tuesday but looks like not. Probably the teachers need to prepare for HBL and perhaps equip the kids with certain handouts should Term 3 start as HBL (hopefully low probability event).

Hope all of the P6s were able to finish SA1s. It is going to be very disruptive if Term 3 onwards has on/off HBL, large amounts of QO, etc. Obviously safety/health first but I hope all P6s will be able to attend classes in person and sit for their exams without added stress of missing class, etc.

Oh I’m surprised that your Mon and Tues exams have been postponed! I mean the kids have studied so hard for it. If the school is too busy to hold the WA now, at least cancel it rather than force the kids to re-study for it next term.

Friend’s girl from IJ TPY has 4 subjects WA this week, not sure if any or all of them will be postponed.

For the P6s, I think I read somewhere that they will be allowed to finish up their MYE, albeit in classrooms rather than the big hall. And P6 supplementary classes in June to proceed as well.

That was my thought. They were ready so just let them take it and move on. I assume they did not cancel because EL/CL are already done. Had all subjects been lined up for this week maybe just cancel everything and re-allocate the weight elsewhere. Regardless, it is the same for everyone and no easy decisions in times like this, so just support the direction the school selected and deal with it best you can.

My girl’s school had finished the P4s / P6s last week so they are clear. The P5s didn’t have much class time on deck for next week (one reason why I thought they may try to finish by Tues). Next Tues is PCTC, Wed is a holiday, and Thurs - Saturday they were supposed to have a camp but that is now a casualty too.

P4 SA1s I agree should go ahead. Friend’s child in Radin Mas has final Science paper today. Just get it over and done with.

Maybe the P5s since not full paper (just single component WA) - school might just postpone. For Math & Science, having the postponed assessment topics closer to SA2 could be good revision prep too, looking on the bright side.

Past 2 years has not been good in term of school based learning for all the kids. So many activities, supplementary lessons, tests, WA and camps are not being held. No learning journeys too.

I feel sorry for the kids. How memorable will their primary school life be?
And so few exams to practice before final exams at the end of the year... 😓
I wonder how the landscape of learning is going to change in future.
Looks like online and home based learning are likely to become more permanent fixtures in the future.

I really pity the current P6 batch (2021 PSLE). Last year they missed out on the P5 content, this year SA1 haven’t finished taking yet (dunno how about those schools that closed early due to Covid cases - their P6s how?) Some more guinea pig batch for AL system…
