Below age 12: kids?
Age 13 to 18: ???
Above 19: adults?

In the US, those 18 yo and above are considered adults. Currently, 12-17 yos are being vaccinated, and are usually referred to as \"teens\". I guess \"kids\" refers to under 12.
We may need to differentiate between those fully vaccinated and those taken the first dose only.

For Bukit Merah cluster, most are FULLY vaccinated.

Correction here: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/some-cases-in-bukit-merah-market-cluster-had-queued-at-popular-stores-for-30

\"Citing the example of the Bukit Merah View cluster, he said 32 per cent of cases have been vaccinated, but 50 per cent have yet to receive the vaccine. The rest of the cases have either received just one dose of the vaccine, or have not yet derived the full protection afforded by the vaccination's two doses.\"

However, I am surprised at his analysis and conclusion to this statistic though.
I am all for the vaccination and I am not an anti-vaxxer but how does this statistic support this statement?

\"This does support the view that vaccination does protect you and reduce the risk of you getting infected, as opposed to those who are not vaccinated,\" he said.
Thanks.
Bukit Merah View cluster:
11 fully vaccinated (or 19.6%)
17 either 1st dose or 2nd dose (less than 2 weeks)
28 non vaccinated (or 50%)

Looking at the numbers and comparing to the vaccination rate in SG:
Fully vaccinated 35%,
Received 1st dose 12.5%
Non vaccinated 52.5%

In terms of percentage, the 28 non vaccinated cases who were infected is not very far from the non-vaccinated percentage in the general population (50% vs 52.5%) whereas the fully vaccinated cases who were infected is lower than the fully vaccinated percentage in the general population (19.6% vs 35%), an indication of a certain level of protection offered by full vaccination but definitely not full immunity. By this analysis, one dose of vaccination doesn’t offer much protection at all.

Govt always says vaccinate to protect yourself and your loved ones. But the sad truth is, the Bukit Merah hawkers and hawker assistants (fully vaccinated), actually brought the virus home to infect their loved ones. As recognized by many, vaccine can protect oneself from death or being seriously ill but doesn’t break the transmission chain, as still can bring home virus to infect loved ones.

Very worried if MTF believes their own propaganda and lift the restrictions on mask wearing and social distancing once we attain a higher rate of vaccination of the population. So many cases have vividly shown that against the Delta Variant, the vaccine doesn’t stop the transmission chain.

After watching last night Euro 2020 football match, seeing how packed their stadiums are with no masks and no social distancing, I worry for them!! Let’s see how the Covid situation in Europe will be like in a few weeks time.

I don't think they \"believe their own propaganda\", rather that their propaganda is changing as their policy changes. I believe that the policy is shifting to accepting that there will be transmission, but just watching that the cases needing hospitalisation and ICU do not spike. \"Protect from Covid-19\" now seems to mean \"protect from serious illness due to Covid-19\" rather than \"protect from catching Covid-19\".

I don't think the experts now consider eliminating Covid-19 as achievable, even in the long run. Even countries like NZ will have to accept some transmission once they get enough vaccinations done; they can't keep their borders closed forever. If most cases are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, I don't think countries consider it something to cause alarm. And so, yes, I do believe that restrictions in Singapore will be gradually eased once a certain taget vaccination rate has been attained; they won't try to wait till transmissions cease.

Europe will probably see a spike in cases. The question is whether their hospitals will fill up again.

Shifting of policy to accept that there will be some transmission doesn’t mean we must follow the westerners blindly to go unmasked after we attained a certain vaccination rate. After all, we have firsthand experience with the delta variant, being the first country outside India to have the delta variant as the predominant strain, and the accumulated empirical data is useful to guide us.
No need to follow the westerners blindly!!

What we know is that with the delta variant, even fully vaccinated folks still get ‘breakthrough’ covid infection, these positive cases still need to be quarantined to avoid wider spread of the virus as it is highly transmissible and the vulnerable groups may still die.

Before a cure is out, let’s just continue to wear masks. Next year’s new variant will be how fatal, nobody knows.

I agree with you - unmasking too quickly is really a bad idea! Especially in Singapore where even outdoor spaces are rarely so empty that you can safely be 1-2m apart from everyone all the time. Mask-wearinng can still be mandated, but I do want offices to open, religious and arts events, life events and group size limits to be increased (or lifted) as soon as possible. I don't want to have to wait too long while we chase a \"no transmission\" ideal. It sounds callous, but no disease prevention policy aims to prevent all deaths - e.g. how dengue and regular flu are handled. I especially feel for the generation of young people who have to miss out on CCAs, limit their social life, start work on Zoom, etc., and for the families which cannot celebrate festivals and life events in traditional ways.

I am not sure if our govt is chasing after “no transmission”. 1 block of flats found with covid viral fragments, whole block residents needs to be swabbed. I am worried as time goes by, we will all suffer from Covid fatigue. I wonder after we reopen up the borders and economy, cases will definitely shoot up and can ring fencing still work then.

What the young generation missed out, hopefully it’s only for these two years. Scientists worldwide are researching anti-viral med and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for that.

Pharma do not want us to use anti-viral med, as it will make their vaccine obsolete/unnecessary. When anti-viral is effective, very few people will die of covid. And there will be no fear factor and their hundreds of billion dollars vaccine revenue per year will be down the drain. They will try their very best to make every online platform censor any such news about anti-viral med from you the public. But keep searching, you can find it !!!!
