It is not advisable to play with different/separate addresses as parents/spouses unless you are staying in the address as per ICA regulations or couples are in process of a legal separation. A married individual shld aligned his/her matrimonial address & report to the police post for changes and avoid infringing ICA regulations which carries a penalty.
In that case, is it possible that one spouse change NRIC to his/her own parent's address, while the other remain at his/her own HDB flat ?
https://www.ica.gov.sg/documents/ic/update_residential_address
“ All Identity Card (IC) holders, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are residing overseas, are required to report a change of residential address within 28 days of moving into a new (local or overseas) residence.”
“ ICA reminds all Singapore Residents (Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents) that it is their responsibility to update their residential addresses to ensure that they remain contactable. The penalty for failing to report a change of address is a fine of up to S$5,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, or to both ~ 19 Nov 2020”
One option is to obtain a Statutory Declaration, if yr child is being dated for by grandparents who resides within 1 km of a choice school. -
Hi all,
Would appreciate some help on the following questions
1) If my current address is tenanted till end Jan 2023, for next year p1 registration, will I still be able to use this address for registration when I can only move back in after Jan 2023?
2) are we allowed to change address throughout the registration phases?
Thank you. -

1) Technically, ypu can use if tenant is not going to use the address btwn now & end of tenancy. Legally, u’re not a resident of that address abd yr I/C will not reflect that, which means u still can’t use that address.

2) If u’ve used an address within 1km & obtain a P1 place for yr child, you are expected to reside within that 1km for st least 30 months. However, for various reasons, u may still stay within the rules if yr change of address is still within that 1km distance under 1 map. -

For 1), even if I own the property, it is still not reflected in my ic?
For 2) what I meant was during the registration phases from phase 1 to 2cs. At any phases are we allowed to change address? -
What happen,
if both (owner + tenant) use the same identical address to register their children, into the same popular primary school, less than 1 km away, coincidentally in the same P1 registration year ?
If the school manage to find out somehow, whose child will be asked to leave the school ?
Property owner’s child or the tenant’s child, got to leave the school ? -

You might be the legal owner of yr private property, but once I’ve rented out, the tenant has legal rights (& obligations) for the duration of tenancy. If a foreign tenant, best u get in writing they’re not using the address for P1 sch registration. However, u’ll still be stumbling over how to register yr I/C with ICA if u’re not physically residing there. It’s high risks to be caught.
2. You can play the system, but don’t u think very stressful? Change address works if yr child is cared-for by grandparents whose address suits intended sch of yr choice. This is the only situation where u can legally not be resident of the address, except u need to do a Statutory Declaration. Change address don’t work if u’re not officially is ally residing in yr tenanted unit. -

1. If it’s tenanted out, you need to ensure that you and the tenant is not using the same address for P1 registration. You will need to submit the following to the school:
- tenancy agreement
- title deed
You won’t be able to use the standard online application also.
You will need to sign a letter of undertaking that you will be taking over the house and stay in the house with effect from 1 Jan 2022.
If your tenant is using / had used the address for registration, you will not be able to use it until you officially take over the possession. Otherwise, your child may be transferred out from the school.
2. You can but if you intend to game the system, it will invite a lot of questioning. If you legally owns 2 or more houses, you should be ok. Otherwise, do note that:
“MOE takes a serious view of parents intentionally using an address solely for the purpose of P1 registration, and will take action to transfer a child out of a school if it is established that there was an intention to abuse the system.” -
I stay at telok blangah but my parents stay at Pasir Ris. I intend to enrol my kid to a pri sch nearest to my parents house, Pasir Ris primary (and is on my way to work as well going Pasir Ris).
Is there any chance of getting in Pasir Ris primary school given my address is >2km? Even with PV? -

Phase 2B, ie after being accepted and completed your PV hours, no balloting. Hence any distance also can. However, whether you will be accepted into the program or not, different matter altogether.

Phase 2C, unfortunately, will be out for you unless you move house. -
Hi parents. Wondering if anyone can advise on a question.
I am going to apply for P1 and is there any issue when using the new address for registration when the project will be completed after 2 years after my child enters P1? Will this be rejected?
