Japan is one of my holiday top destinations. Even before the Olympics, their cases were already high. Not sure why, especially since they are all so used to mask wearing and practise good hygiene. At one time, we even suspect their Japanese masks are good for pollen only.

            https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/adolescents-younger-men-should-avoid-strenuous-activity-week-after-2nd-covid-19-vaccine

Poor boy, some people may be laughing at him for going out to exercise (weightlifting). MOH’s statement was less than sympathetic and placed over emphasis on the weightlifting exercise seemingly to suggest that the strenuous exercise was the cause of the cardiac arrest.

Our 14 members expert-committee only said “avoid strenuous activity after 2nd dose”. Only today suddenly revised their advice to “no exercise for one week after each dose”. Then likely no advice was given to all the teens on vaccination day that they should not exercise for one week after 1st dose!

              🙏 he recovers

“Although there is a small increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis, the local incidence rate remains low,” said the agency, at 0.22 per 100,000 doses administered overall. The figure for men below 30 is 1.24 per 100,000 doses.

MOH has to be more transparent on these numbers - how many had it after the first dose, and how many after the second? The exact age range of these 7 young men? Are they using below 30 as a general bucket , is any of the affected men above 23?

Internationally myocarditis and pericarditis after vaccination has been observed predominantly after the second jab.
Students above 12 were eligible for vaccination starting 3rd Jun, with minimum of 4 week interval for second jab , which means the second shot was being administered since July 1st so only a small number have must have had their 2nd shot. Below 39 (and not students) could only register from 11th Jun, so probably have only had their 1st jab till now. Of course not including the health care workers , etc who were vaccinated much earlier.

Roughly the population of Singapore in the age 12-29 is roughly less than 1 million. So based on the local incidence rate that is 12 men that could be affected( or is it 24). We have 7 unfortunate ones already. As more numbers get their second jab, isnt it likely that the incidence rate will increase? Can they project that based on this small data set?

I honestly believe the expert committee should do a more detailed study before going ahead with this. The risk - benefit analysis for that age group needs to be studied. I am all for vaccinations in general , got it for my parents , had mine as soon as we could . But this this \"warning\" side effect needs to be taken more seriously, especially for that demographic

It’s not the benefit of hindsight when one has already been warned.

                "Right context" my foot.

Maybe the members of the expert committee should get off their high horses and listen for once.

Those who are going for vaccination. Please tell them all your symptoms after 1st dose. Even if you may think that it is not a big matter.

I brought fwd my Moderna 2nd dose to a weekend when DH will be around. Anticipating that I will need to rest in bed whole weekend. Many of my age group female friends had wooziness and fever within hours after theirs. The immune memory T cells doing their job well.
