i really empathize with you
And so we have officially been unsuccessful in the ballot for St Nicholas in phase 2A1. Kinda expected it but still devastated to get the SMS just now .
Looking at the schools around my area (Fernvale) for 2C now , and I am also at a loss . Most of the schools here seem to have MOE kindergarten which results in ballot for 2C as well. I was going to try Fern Green but looking at last year figures it seems quite likely 2C will be ballot even for <1km. Looking at Anchor Green and Springdale which I am within 1-2km but I just realized these two schools have MK too.
Any one has advice on this ? Should I try for Fern Green whereby I am <1km but last year 126 fighting for 95 vacancies. Or try Anchor Green whereby I am 1-2km but seems a little less competitive based on 2020 figs, 62 applied for 101 vacancies in 2C.
Any insights on why Fern Green has much more applicants from their kindergarten compared to Anchor Green . I was surprised coz I tot Fern Green is a much newer school compared to Anchor green. It seems Anchor Green is safer then even though I fall into 1-2 km .
To those who haven’t applied yet, good luck to you guys in the registration!! I am losing sleep over this already….
it is a tough pill to swallow

Thank you for the reply . I think the safer bet is Anchor Green or Palm View then. I am not too keen on Fernvale Primary and SK Green is way too risky.
Have you consider any possible school under 2A2? Husband school etc.xyun08\" post_id=\"2030374\" time=\"1626142289\" user_id=\"128943:

Ferngreen has more 14 more enrolment until 2A1 as compared to last year, look likely to be abit tougher than last year if the take up in phase 2A2 remain comparable to last year.
Anchor green looks relatively safe for your distance in phase 2C.
Springdale cannot try, 30 more applied in phase 1 this year.
If you are within 1km of fernvale, you can consider it in 2C or 2Cs as well. Depending on your choice, if you go for ferngreen in 2C, you probably need a backup in 2Cs that is within 1km.
Stay cool and calm and think through the school options.
I am actually going to ballot in 2A2 for Pei Chun but they only have 31 vacancies left so not much hope we will get in. The other option I am considering now is Marymount convent since the school seems to be pretty good and has so far been quite safe in 2C and it is near my moms place . But if there is unexpected surge in numbers this year then we can say goodbye to Marymount too.
Either this or Palm View/Anchor Green. I didn’t explore other schools already .. white hair all coming out -

Just wanna highlight that if you are considering and going to apply to PCPS, you shouldn’t worry about traffic to MCS. MCS is a lot easier to get to and faces less traffic bottlenecks than PCPS.

Either this or Palm View/Anchor Green. I didn’t explore other schools already .. white hair all coming out[/quote]Actually you have a good plan planned out, don't be affected by the 2A1. Stay on track.
If your mum is a caregiver, and is actually near to PCPS or Marymount (within 2km), you can actually apply for SD if you meet the criteria, unsure the processing time though. See link: https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/home-address.
Nevertheless its not a done deal that you are going for balloting in 2A2. Floppy didn’t listed it down, I listed it down as risky as I compared this year vacancies with last year applicants, but there was a surge in 2A1 numbers from 78 to 99. It could very well be movement of 2A2 to 2A1. Not all hope are lost.
Pray that there isn’t a need for balloting for 2A2 for you. -
Thank you everyone for the kind advice. Learn a lot from each of you , being able to analyse each school situation so well.
During 2C if we call up the schools will they let us know how many people applied already ? -

Hi there, the practice varies from school to school: some schools will be more willing to divulge this info than others.

Will suggest you give it a try to call the school since no harm asking.
Good luck! -
Hi all
Question again… if I successfully got a place in 2A2 but I decided I want to try for another school in 2C , I have to withdraw from the 2A school first right ? I been reading the FAQ on MOE site and got a bit confused . Anyone can shed some light on the process ? Both spouses have to log in to the online system which will have option for us to withdraw ? Or do we need to inform the school directly ?
Sorry it may sound very silly to be doing this . But after my research on Marymount convent I think my girl may be more suitable for this school rather than Pei Chun(assuming we get a place in PCPS) . And so far Marymount seems to be safe in 2C Without balloting .
We haven’t decided yet but at this point in time I am more skewed towards Marymount than Pei Chun . -
If you don’t want Pei Chun, don’t do anything at Phase 2A2. Just wait for Phase 2C to arrive, then enrol your girl straight, directly into Marymount, an All-girls school

Hi
I have been looking at the historical data of Marymount convent and in general it seems 2C is safe without balloting and last two years figures were quite healthy .
However I noticed in 2018 the figures were high for 2C applicants (121 applied for 134 vacancies). Again this kind of high figures appeared in 2012-2014.
I got the data from this link
https://sgschooling.com/school/marymount-convent.html
Anyone can share insights on what hap in 2018. I am just a little concerned if this year due to SG50 cohort and coz many people were balloted out in 2A phase , the high figures will reappear again in 2C. Although in general I read that for 2C it should be 99.9% sure that there won’t be balloting but just wanted to ask the masters here again for comments . Thank you 😊 -

2018 was registration year for Dragon boomer babies. SG50 and SG51 batch would be on par. But for Marymount Convent in particular, there’s the very recent (post-2018 I think) cap on PRs, so I think still no balloting for 2C this year.
