        Hi there,

May I know if there is a link to look for the most updated vacancies for Phase 2B and 2C for all the schools at the moment? Are they allocated equally between these 2 phases?

        Thanks much.

          Yes, allocated equally.

            https://i.postimg.cc/X7fQW915/Rc-FQe-phase-2b-at-risk-schools.png\">

If the no. of applicants for this year is similar to last year's, these are the (44) schools most at risk of balloting in Phase 2B. Lexy had mentioned some of them https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=91589&start=520#p2031406.

Historically, there were 24 schools with more applicants than vacancies in 2020, 22 such schools in 2019 and 27 such schools in 2018. The usual suspects are all included in the list above (hint: they are the first 20 schools and Nan Hua).

I think the number of schools with more applicants than vacancies in 2021 will exceed 27 this year. Hence, my word of caution will be: if you are aiming or planning to register for any of the schools above in Phase 2B, AND if you are SC > 2km or PR, you should weigh your options carefully if you want the application to be meaningful.

For those who are already looking ahead to Phase 2C, do note that there are 100 schools with the same number of vacancy or less in Phase 2B this year compared to last year. If the number of applicants for Phase 2B remains the same or higher than last year, we are going to see an ultra-competitive Phase 2C this year.

              P/S:

There are really A LOT of Catholics, A LOT of Methodists, and A LOT of Hokkiens in Singapore.

If I’m not wrong, the SHHK issues letters that are school-specific. So the members would have declared beforehand which school they’re keen on, and the endorsement letter would only qualify them for that particular school. Probably no issue since you’d typically have to be <1km of the school to stand a chance in 2B.

For those popular Methodist and Catholic schools, people will still join the balloting if they live <1km. It’s the 1-2km and >2km folks who will have to confront their dilemma of trying for a 2nd-tier school, or to go straight for the 3rd-tier school. Eg if you live in NE area, would you apply to SJIJ? Or SGPS? Or Monfort?

Or if you live somewhere in the middle of SG, would you try to ballot for ACS? Or pick GMPS for a sure seat?

Regarding SHHK, you are correct. The decision by the members had to be made a couple of years ago, and they will have to stand by their decision today.

For the rest, it's the reason why I highlighted that they should weigh their options carefully if they want their application to be meaningful. While MOE may announce that there is a ballot for XXX school for SC > 2km, what they don't say is that there could be 20 people > 2km balloting for that 1 remaining space after the <1km and 1-2km folks have taken up the balance.

Just for interest. What was last year’s number for ACSJ 2B? 59 SC<1km for 26 vacancies?

Is it possible or likely to see less applicants in 2B and 2C given some are shifted to MK (earlier phase) this year?

59 / 26 is correct but can’t tell what’s the breakdown since data not provided.
