Averaging 1 to 2 per class from P3 cohort will get into GEP (total around 14 to 15 students). Some may not remain in RGPS, as NYPS is just across the road. How do the school manage it? It certainly has to do with natural gifts and parenting. Smarter and more educated parents will have a high tenancy of producing smart off springs and of course, parents with more resources may also send their children to GEP enrichment. That is why quite a handful of rgps parents subsequently seek to transfer their daughters out of rgps into schools like MGS/SCGS/SN/St Mag etc before psle.
Again, in the first place, it is easier to get into RGPS than SCGS/MGS Pri if one stays around Bukit Timah.
RGPS has got around 270 mainstream + 2 GEP classes of around 20-25 students I think. So in total, the P6 cohort should have around 310-320 students. Assuming 50% score 250+ that will be around 160 students (inclusive of GEP). If we exclude those new addition GEP students from other schools (assuming 50-15 = 35) that will be 125 students. (ie, assuming ALL GEP students score above 250 - which may not be the case)
If 125 students out of 270 scores above 250, then it is still a decent 46%.
For DD2’s batch, there were 3 gep classes. DD2 class alone had 26 girls. For her P6 class, all geppers scored above 250.[/quote]The figures certainly include GEP as they took the same PSLE paper. -

there were P6 students who scored 22x. With 22x, cannot go (St Margaret / CHIJ Toa Payoh / Crescent Girls) Secondary. In the end, went somewhere else -

Called the school. Getting more opaque. Understand moe won’t even disclose which phase is balloting by 12. Just one sms on 17th. So as good as just wait another 2weeks. Geez quite speechless
So far based on last year and also previous phase this year (up to Phase 2B), MOE does not update the numbers on the last day of each phase. On the 2nd last day of the phase, they will give a date if which they will update again. And in that update, they will provide the final numbers including the balloting status. The results of the ballot will come few days later. For example for Phase 2B, MOE announced the final numbers including the balloting status on 29 July. But the results of the ballot was only out on 2 Aug as earlier announced.
For Phase 2C they will update on 12 Aug and this will include the balloting status. The balloting results on only be out on 17 Aug via SMS. -

If fierce intense competition happen over at NYPS, because of the presence of boys there enrolling into NYPS, then after lunch this afternoon, there will be spill-over effect, parents with daughters may switch camp, drop NYPS, try their chances at RGPS -

But basic minimum, must inform parents which distance bracket entering into balloting, so that if certain group of 2C SCs students no chance to ballot at all, after 3 pm, they should quickly make their way down to (St Margaret or Marymount or some CHIJ schools still left with vacancies) primary in time, to secure a last slot in P2C without balloting, instead of wasting away their precious, golden 2C chance -

If have to ballot, then make their own informed choice, but at least let the people outside the distance radius know they don’t even stand a chance to ballot, don’t waste that precious 2C chance -
