Seems like a hidden gem. Current St Stephen's principal took over this year is former principal from SJI Jr. I suppose he's likely to to give much needed confidence to parents who have no knowledge of the school leadership and culture...

As per one of my posts, I’m not familiar with St. Stephen’s. I do, however, find the data on St. Stephen’s an abnormality.

Interest in SJIJ is always high, and in recent years, running close to or balloting for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. Yet, SSS which shares exactly the same affiliation, carries extra places into Phase 2CS every year. If we put aside the differences in locality, there’s really no reason why that should happen.

The fix it remedy: Rename St Stephen's School to SJI Primary and lets see what happens. 😂 😂[/quote]Yes, that would be a quick fix and could probably work. They would need to fix De La Salle as well (although SSS seems to be oddest one)

You have to give it to ACS for being consistent in promoting the “ACS family”. It’s a lot easier to understand and comprehend (for layman) than being a part of the Lasallian family.

Wow thanks guys. I didn’t know SSS is affiliated to SJI (only know about St Pat). This discussion may be too late for good resource for those who needs to consider 2CS or future years application. The reason why I got curious is because I can’t believe there’s no parents interest in them. I mean if I were to scan the 2cs list, the schools (SSS and Montfort) stands out immediately.

It seems to me that for SSS:

          1) It's a backup for many who try SJIJ first
          2) Location - low population density, couple with
          3) being a boy's school - already less people around the school, and those with girls may pass

Any chance any schools will reveal the balloting distance now that registration is closed?

Besides the location, i suppose the many so called “good schools” around the area (and coed) are tempting for prents to try.

Its not only St Stephen’s but there is also CHIJ Katong and St Anthony’s Cannosian are all schools that goes into 2CS each year.

My cousin attended it in the 1980s, it wasn’t that popular. After re-named to SJI x, suddenly Catholics viewed it as “better” than the other Catholic boys schools.

They had an idea and came up with a JTP (Josephian Talent Prigramme) to develop top pupils in the school so they can continue into SJI. Hence the name changed.

The idea was also to open it up to the other 3 affiliated schools as well. But it didnt take off and the programme was scrapped but the name wasnt. Lolx

You can always try to call the school to ask but chances are they are probably really still in the process of validating the applications and might not even be able to give an accurate number themselves.

Shower thoughts: why can't the schools leave out some documents until AFTER the student is confirmed in the school?

National vaccination certs can be sorted out AFTER the exercise and it'll probably help reduce the workload and repeat /redundancy work that admin needs to do.

I remember teachers asking who wants to collect phase1 forms for sister / brothers - St Michaels.

Sad that Marymount Convent no longer has a secondary school though. Is the kindergarten still around I wonder?
