I think I am one of the mums who posted \"come home still can read books\". My boy has no sch CCA, unlike phankao's boy. So for my boy, it is straight to home after sch or sch project discussions..

Don't have CCA - but he also has Cafe CCA, right? And the cafe CCA also depends on the term. Different cafe cca has different frequency. in term 1, his Cafe CCA was only 1x/week. Term 2, his cafe CCA was 2x/week and until quite late(7pm).

CAFE is abbrev. for sth, offhand cant recall exactly. It's related to CCA. At the start of term 1, each student is given a list of CCAs to choose from for each term. Each term one new CCA. Very limited choices. But a student can still join other CCAs when the CCA recruitment begins (at least this is what I understand from my boy).

Btw, are you aware that JH1 n JH2 must take HCL? I find the way HCL is taught in NJC does not prepare my boy well for sec sch lvl vocabulary. Hence we changed the tuition from compo to enrichment in term 2.

Last year, I accompanied one of my younger cousins (took PSLE 2009) and my younger sister to NJC's open house 2009.There are still some things which we are not clear till today, could you pls help to answer:

(1)Why is it compulsory to take HCL for JH1 and JH2 but you are given an option to either take HCL or CL from JH3 onwards?

(2) NJC's grading system is different from most IP schools.Some use 75 and above for A1 and 80 and above for a GPA score of 4 (A+) whereas NJC's A plus or A star is 85 and above, is this correct?

(3) Is there any streaming from JH3 onwards? Or do they continue with IS, IH, LA all the way from JH1 to JH4?

I also dunno the rationale. When asked the CL teacher, she said to give all students more exposure as some mature earlier, some later, to be fair lor. When I mentioned my boy who does not read CL literature at all, she said maybe a few years later, he would hv more interest in it.

Based on the booklet, A* is equal or more than 84.5% with a Grade value of 4.3

CAFE is \"CcA_For_Enrichment\"

Students are allowed to go through 3 different CCAs in their 1st year. By the end of Year 1, they have to select a CCA to apply for by end of Term 4.

Yes, 1st two weeks 9am to 3pm. 1st week the trainers touched on poetry, 2nd week on story writing. At first, he finds it sian to go back to sch in the hols, after 3rd day, he began to enjoy the lessons. Glad that he signed up for the course. Plus, hubby made it a point to drive him to sch in the morning.
