strange, then where do the sudden sharp rise of so many < 1 km SC applicants, come from ?

Rent the existing condo, for 30 months ?

Just wondering if applicants might abuse this and \"rent\" a place within 1km without actually moving there. They only move in the area if after they are balloted into the Phase 2C 1km, so that they won't be caught later.

There seems to be a lot of ex-foreigners-turned-Singaporean with kids in RPGS.

During application, P2C applicants will need to key in the registered address and proof of tenancy agreement supported with a certificate of stamp duty (if they are renting). Hence it is impossible for someone to fake a rental address without actually renting a place. And of course, at the point of registration, they may not actually be living there yet, but they have certainly secured a place and paying rent.

On the other hand, there are also families who cheat by not actually staying or fulfil the MOP requirement. Over the years there have been parents getting caught and having their P1 or P2 student expelled from the school. I believe there was a case involving a RGPS student

      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/courts-crime/father-who-lied-about-address-during-pri-1-registration-gets-fine-instead-of

New or old, citizens are citizens and they have the same rights as other Singaporeans who intend to send the kids to RGPS. For those who cheat, the probability will be higher for Singapore born Singaporeans than new citizens because the latter group are more likely to have more options to cheat. e.g utilizing parents, relatives, or sibling addresses for registration.

The reasons why there are more new citizens (NC) sending their child to RGPS could be due to
      1) Popularity of neighbourhood, proximity to good schools (NYPS, RGS, MGS, SCGS, HCI, NJC)
      2) Popularity of RGPS
      3) Limited option for NC due to parents having no affiliation to any schools
      4) Higher disposable income
      5) Popularity of D10 property

With the availability of tracetogether app information, I think it should not be difficult for MOE to track who is cheating.[/quote]Frankly, i dun think MOE is authorize to use the tracetogether to chk on the registration. But those parents who are cheating may feel insecure abt it.

Today, announced the merging of Phases (2A1 + 2A2).

            from the press :-

            https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/primary-1-registration-changes-phase-2c-places-phase-2a-2166041

Currently, parents pay $500 for their daughter(s), to join RGPS Alumni Association. To become an alumni member, you must first have been a PSLE graduate of RGPS.

            But,

if you have left RGPS without sitting for PSLE in RGPS, for example, seeked Transfer out of RGPS before reaching Primary 6, then you cannot join the Alumni Association. That's how it works !

            However,
with this new combined merging, the Alumni \"disappearance\" effect takes place. The urge to join Alumni has
dissipated. Gone with the wind !

Even if you have already paid up $500, starting from next year 2022 P1 registration onwards, it is of no use anymore.

            Why ?

            because

            2A1s

will be thrown into the same common identical Phase 2A for registration, together with all other 2A2s, who do not even need to fork out a single cent at all.

            With this announcement,
actually, what is the message that they are trying to drive across ?

They are trying to convey across the message that -

            starting from year 2022 onwards,

regardless of which phase you are in,
whether you are in Phase (2A or 2B or 2C),
shifting closer towards RGPS within 1 km then, is preferred.

            ===========================

            Going forward,

if parents do not see the benefit of joining RGPS 2A1 Alumni Association anymore, with this loss in income $,
where to get funds to support the objective(s) in our school ?

I think you mean 2C < 1km sure in. There is still a very high likelihood that RGPS will ballot for > 2km.

                  No, not true.

                  Under the newly announced combined Phases ( 2A1 + 2A2) -

                  1) only SCs living less than 1km from RGPS, are \"sure in\",

                  whereas

                  2) based on not one but several past years' P1 enrolment statistics figures observed, balloting might arise, for SCs living more than 2 km,

                  because

RGPS is an \"All Girls\" school, unlike Nanyang primary, which is co-ed.

                  As such,
if you have two alma mater to choose from, say

                  for example

                  - from (P1 to P3) studied at RGPS before,

                  - then from (P4 to P6) , transferred out to GEP (Nanyang primary),

                  because

NYPS is affliated to NYGH, whereas RGPS is Not affliated to RGS at all, then

under this newly emerged combined Phase 2A,

it makes sense to come back to RGPS, instead of NYPS.

There are many, many 2A parents staying more than 2 km away, from both (RGPS & Nanyang) primary. Just take a look at the Total number of school buses leaving RGPS school compound premises at 1.45 pm, Monday to Friday, u can tell easily.

This piece of merging 2A news announcement will definitely impact many of us.

You mean 1km within a non affiliated school gives you higher chance and less competitors than a full school? Right? Also depends if everyone can afford the rent. $4-5k/month locked in for a one/two year lease just to try chance, unless you earn comfortably!

Is it because more alumni for NYPS?

Yes, within the same Phase 2A,

                        if a primary school is

                        (co-ed, accepting both boys & girls +
                        SAP +
                        GEP centre +
having a good affliation to an IP NYGH Secondary school at Tscore 250 / projected, estimated AL 6 points),
                        you can expect

the Total number of 2A applicants to be much, much higher in NYPS,
than that of RGPS 2A applicants.

Furthermore, the rules of the game have changed.

                        Last time,
in the example of two alma mater GEP Transfer case,

if failed to ballot in Phase 2A1 (NYPS), never mind, you still can come back and join 2A2 (RGPS). You can bite the cherry, twice.

But with the new combined ruling, cannot. Out front, you have to decide, can choose only 1 school. You want to register for phase 2A (NYPS or RGPS) ?

Also, depending on the zodiac sign (year) your daughter is born in, it is possible that under Phase 2A, combined 2A RGPS applicants may not need to ballot, even for SC living outside 2 km. Take a look at the past historical trend statistics under Phase 2A, study the figures there. Just remove away the 20 seats from phase 2A, to allocate to Phase 2C applicants.

                        Example

If girls born in auspicious dragon / phoenix year : SC > 2 km, 2A applicants might ballot. But

If girls born in Tiger year : SC > 2km, 2A applicants no need to ballot. All will be admitted in
