What do you expect when there are recalcitrant uncles and aunties gathering and line-dancing at Chinatown Complex and nearby all the time? From 2020 till 2021, still cannot obey the rules. With the Mid-Autumn Festival light-up, more pp will go to Chinatown.

Policy makers no fault? We have had hawker centre clusters (few times!) before but keep repeating as the systemic causes were not identified and rectified. The old folks are the PG and MG whose votes matter a lot.

😂 😂 Don’t forget im sitting next to u hor. We keep 1m company. 😉

Was looking at the hospitalization chart..

          For past 1 wk..

Grp 61-70 been doing a great job..almost keep going down.

Grp 70+ hmm.. has reclaimed its medal from Grp 40-60yo yesterday... maybe mature estate(s)?

The youngest group has broke the 100marks past 2 days..pls take extra care kids!

          Mrs KS,
Yes, I’m concern how transmissible it has been & worry for those with pre-existing conditions & elderly and very young kids.

When doing grocery y’day, just cldnt get any feeling ppl are conscious with social distancing. Crowded as ever at VivoCity. Quickly get my grocery done & verbalized to hubby we shld try go to other outlets & bear with less selection as we’re bring bags over to MIL. Don’t want unknowingly pass unseen creatures of harm to her.

Curiously, my helper said she still hv lessons at the CC. Instructed her tt the recent numbers are high to be extra vigilant & careful n be back for lunch together. We’ve to bear it out next couple of weeks and stay home more so will buy a little extra meat next Tues whilst can rely on my garden for the various veggies & fruiting cucumbers, bittergourd, pumpkin, Brinjal & long beans besides my herb garden.

So hard to be back to bit of norlmacy, for bz to keep alive and jobs to stay, with this Delta at large. Can’t stay shut as a small country. Y’day, my frd had ppl messaging him to quickly help him get apartments as he needs to house workers coming in for a project. Ano young frd left for Germany for 3 months internship & she felt it was cool with the green lane as she didn’t hv to do PCR or quarantine as she’s vaccinated. So there’re still lots of bz flights going in/out.

Stay safe & safe sane. We watch the numbers. Hopefully don’t loose count.
I couldn't imagine how happy to see own garden of veg. Lunch, asked dd to harvest 3 strands of spring onion, already so happy lol..will take note when go supermarkets, I think sometimes they sell chilli plant with chilli.

Yes, important not only keep safe but also sane. In time like this, can see lots more love from loved ones. Let's all not consumed by covid fatigue.

Definitely at fault. I'm still very baffled by the exponential increase here!

As I've said twice b4, HK also has wet markets and some Food centres similar to ours. I used to eat at HK hawker centres. Sama sama crowded during office lunch hour.

Taipei has sheltered wet markets housed in exactly like our Chinatown Complex/Tekka/Geylang Serai/Albert double storey buildings, open-air market streets, open-air shophouse kopitiams and night markets too.

Mainland cities also have the same wet markets inside double-storey buildings or ground level, and I'd been to some of them.

How come we cannot control our outbreaks in such places? Taiwan even copied us by implementing the odd-even last digit IC number to access the wet markets on alternate days.

I think a lot of them need to take responsibility for their own safety. The authorities can only do so much - they can't watch every one of them and remind them to wear their masks properly (the main problem, I believe), or crowd near other people, or talk to people while unmasked. If they close hawker centres and markets to the elderly, there will be even more hardship to the low-income elderly. The safest way to stop transmission to the elderly is to ban them from leaving their homes, and limit the no. of visitors very strictly (i.e. circuit breaker, but only for the elderly). But no-one wants that.

Better find an effective way to engage them to do the right thing while eliminating the systemic causes otherwise everyone will suffer the economic consequences.

But no-one wants that.
Yes, here lies the conundrum of democratic system. Hongkong and China have proven that authoritarian measures and lockdown do work, but they don't have to worry about losing citizens' votes. Taiwan is kind of exception, few of her citizens are going to vote for pro-china KMT in current political climate, so basically Vegetable English has free pass to implement whatever measures she want.

Implementing harsh measures at this point will have dire political ramifications. The PG and MG people making up a significant voter base sure would be super unhappy. Youngsters in their 20s are not exactly loyal fans of current government because their careers and education are directly affected by the pandemic, further measures might just tip the balance. That's why even WP is not saying anything regarding current measures, there simply isn't any more viable control measures. They suggest lockdowns or 2HA also sure will cause a sizable amount of their own voters to be unhappy with them.
