Hi! Were these questions tested in the PSLE oral or LC?
Pressure of PSLE is really intense. My DD also said the English LC was really hated.
Just would like to know the general opinion on these:
- what’s the sis’s first thoughts when found brother missing. Brother has gone to find her?
- when was she sure he was inside the cave: heard him crying vs went searching the cave
- what’s true about the hawker: wanted to promote hawker culture vs bonding
- what does aspiring hawker need to know: overcome challenge vs give feedback
Any views will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -

Additional changes to who can take the national exams and more details about special considerations for PSLE scores. Hope no one has to deal with this. Good luck!

Thx. “Rank position” smells a lot like T score system. But I don’t have a better suggestion, so…

I hear you, but they probably need something to try to \"standardize\" to the actual PSLE papers. Previously, I was guessing that they did something like this;SG_KP1\" post_id=\"2039454\" time=\"1632622851\" user_id=\"188234:

a) you score 80 on prelim
b) school cohort average is 75 prelim
c) school cohort average on PSLE is 76, --> you get 81
which is probably similar (although at first glance I think what they've listed is better).
I guess at least a positive they have given some insight as to what they do. I do think it is a positive they are allowing more people to take the exams. 9 or 10 more days and the P6s can officially relax! :imcool: -

If your school set easy papers in P6 Prelim subjects, then naturally the Prelim mean (average) for 2021 P6 cohort will be highSG_KP1\" post_id=\"2039454\" time=\"1632622851\" user_id=\"188234:

The next written paper start this coming Thursday (30 September 2021), at 8.15 am, English composition Paper 1.

If you are targeting AL 8,
so that
you can take Sec 1 3rd foreign languages in (German, Japanese, Spanish, French),
then,
each of your 4 subjects must acquire at least minimum an AL 2, or better. That is, at least acquire 85 marks & above, in each of your 4 PSLE subjects.
Because
If you score AL 9 overall, Sorry, MOELC will Not allow you to take above named foreign languages specified.
Why ?
because
AL 9 is actually Tscore 24x, BELOW 250 -
Just FYI there’s a good number of students who qualify for 3rd language but don’t want to take it. So they don’t have to. Actually quite smart cos the attrition rate is v high.

Yes that is right. I know many who qualify but dont take. If there is no interest, why take? I dont subscribe to, “try first, drop when you dont like”. You can spend the time pursuing other things that interest you.

My observation is if a student signs up with the mindset \"I can always drop,\" he/she will never put in the time that is required and the class will become so difficult it is not even fun to go to (plus makes your schedule one day per week extremely long/other work constrained). Hence, end up wasting 6 months to 1 year when could have been doing something more productive. In contrast, if you sign up and treat it like a compulsory subject then you will figure out and make time for what needs to be done to survive. But as you point out, there's no reason to get yourself into this unless you truly have interest (it's not compulsory). My sense is many of the kids that make it to the O Level exam either a) had an underlying interest in the language before the S1 option forms were issued or b) have some cultural ties to the country (one parent, family lived there previously, etc). Most others will fall to the natural hazard rate of the subject(s) (probably something like a half-life chart :rotflmao: ).

I do commend those who make it to the end. It is not easy given all of the other time demands in secondary school...
