Thank you to all who have shared. I am not sure of the worked solutions, I am lousy at maths but guess those who enjoy can give it a go 😉

For the volume one, the ans is 7 and for the ratio of parallelogram to the triangle is 1:1 as both of the areas are 5cm2. If you get different ans , most likely draw triangle wrongly in the first place

In reply to whether if this year’s psle is indeed more difficult than past years , I’ve been wondering about it too . 2020 was relatively . 2018 & 2019 was a tough one (the triangle pattern , semicircle n egg tart discount).

Whereas for this year , insofar , there is only the coin question being discussed . My DC explained that there were quite a few more difficult questions that were long with accompanying diagrams . So perhaps that’s the reason why the kids don’t quite remember them .

My take is that I think this batch feel especially stressed out with 2 years of HBL and covid . So a moderately difficult paper simply tips them over . I don’t recall comments that kids come out crying after a difficult math paper in past years . But this year , I do hear personal recounts from friends’ kids who see their classmates bursting into tears halfway during the paper .

Let’s cheer our kids go to navigate through this tough environment. Each and everyone is a fighter in our own right !

The triangle question is 2 marks as it is in Paper 1.

Paper 1 maximum marks per qn is 2 marks.
