In DH’s workplace, 5 staff tested positive after taking ART, of which, 3 were cleaners. Maybe a lot of the seniors who caught COVID got it from workplace (cleaners, hawkers etc). At the rate of infection and deaths (9 seniors passed on yesterday), I won’t be surprised if there will be cleaners crunch shortly
The thinking is still very much \"everyone will take precautions to protect the vulnerable\" rather than \"teach the vulnerable how to take precautions to protect themselves\". There needs to be that switch in mindset before we can truly go \"endemic\". -

They've already relaxed the guidelines for asymptomatic cases, from many cases I've read in the Telegram support group.
I think they should just stop testing so much, and leave the asymptomatic cases undetected and uncounted. Since asympotomatic cases are, by definition, in no danger themselves, and very little to others, seeking them out and isolating them in large nos. seems a waste of resources and puts Singapore in bad light compared with other countries, most of which have a much less \"catch them all\" approach. At the same time, much more emphasis has to be placed on telling the vulnerable how to protect themselves, and making them understand that it is their responsibility now.
If you are a fully vaccinated & asymptomatic person, and get a +ve result using ART at home, you no longer need to visit the hospital, go to SASH clinic or do PCR test.
You just self-isolate and self-monitor for any symptoms and do another ART 72 hrs later. If it's -ve, you can self-discharge and resume your activities.
The ART only detects persons with high viral load, so if you are a carrier with low viral load, you won't see a +ve on ART so soon. Despite this, they are now letting you off into the community.
This means last night's 3,000+ is not an accurate caseload. It excludes the abovementioned big group of fully vaccinated asymptomatic persons who have been released, similar to what UK has been doing for a while.
We are moving towards the correct direction. :rahrah: -

Paid by your office? Or are these the 8 kits that was earlier announced?
Office gave us ART kits to self test for the next few weeks -

Were they asymptomatic? If so, they only were detected because they were asked to test. There will be many more who live in blissful ignorance that they have contracted Covid because they don't test. I don't know the numbers, but I'm sure there are many more seniors who haven't contracted Covid than have. I don't think we are going to see a sharp reduction of that age group.

For Nov / Dec year-end school holiday,
can Singaporean visitors (Sinopharm jabbed, fully vaccinated), enter Melbourne (Australia) for holiday, or cannot ?
Dec is summer time, in Australia
How about China visitors, also Sinopharm jabbed ?
Can enter Melbourne, for holiday ? -

The Nov opening is only for citizens and PRs of Australia, and is dependent on vaccination rates. So I don't think it's likely that non-citizens/PRs will be allowed to travel into Australia in Dec.

Really blissful ignorance? Those who are asymptomatic may pass the virus to their aged parents (or young kids).
Like Taiwan some months back, don’t know why only 200+ cases per day but 20+ deaths daily.
Our death rates are also growing exponentially month on month:
August = 18
Sept = 40
Oct = 33 for first 5 days.
Likely to hit 160+ for this month of Oct.
How about Nov? Worst case could hit 160 X 8 = 1280 deaths! -
For those working overseas coming home see family… there may be worries of able to come back home but may face restrictions when going back there?

Yes, students studying overseas may return home (Singapore), for year-end school holiday & Christmas. But come January next new academic year 2022, going back to overseas for studies may be an issue, after the freezing

Ice- cold harsh winter. I missed the good, old pre-covid days very much, where we had so much freedom
